Carter was the first neoliberal president. You can disagree with that statement but it just means you don't know what the term means.

As the best of the bunch, the only one who actually seemed to believe you need to do good things in private to balance out your destruction of the social safety net and that the corruption wasn't the point in itself, it might be a little sad that he saw its inevitable conclusion when he was too old and sick to change his mind and do something about it but it's still a fitting legacy.

Yup. He was a spoiler personable economic right wing candidate who won despite the party not favoring him. They feared he would be weak in the general, but couldn't stop him from winning the primary. He clashed heavily with the establishment who were MORE left wing than him. Of course, he was still too nice to satisfy conservatives, so Reagan defeated him in a landslide.

Why would they post at 7 AM? Shouldn’t they always post at like 11:59 PM?

Edit: Okay smartasses. Why would they post at 7 AM EST (often used as the default time zone in the US, and also the latest time zone so other US time zones would only be worse)?

7am anywhere on earth is midnight somewhere else.

[–] themoonisacheese@sh.itjust.works 16 points 3 months ago (3 children)

Isn't there some weird ahh timezones that are 45 minutes apart and technically 7 AM there is midnight nowhere?

[–] JackbyDev@programming.dev 8 points 3 months ago

You can say ass here.

Seme parte of america are in the - 7 timezone so if it was posted there and seen in the UK, it all fits.

[–] themoonisacheese@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 months ago

Yes, but my point is that there exist timezones when 7am is midnight nowhere.

[–] SomethingBurger@jlai.lu 4 points 3 months ago

Nepal is at +5:45.

[–] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago

That’s the time corrected for the timezone of the person who took the screenshot.

Well even then the news might take a bit to break so “did Jimmy Carter die yesterday?“ at 11:59p makes sense but the name gets a little long

Oh yeah and engagement

Gotta optimize for your demo of course :|
