"It is difficult and time-consuming to do the work to lie about China all the time."

Fixed that for you Beth!

That's right, it's tough work to constantly try and make something that is absolutely and unarguably good look bad.

[–] ksynwa@lemmygrad.ml 22 points 4 days ago

Actually that's the easy part because they are making stuff up anyway or just getting points somewhere rom the human centipede style chain with RFA and such. They wanna get paid for it handsomely which is where funding cuts become a problem. Debunking their garbage takes much more time and effort.

Accidental Trump win.

USAID is evil, whatever good it does only exists to mask its core mission of destabilizing the rest of the world.

I'd say it's like a serial killer who's also a major philanthropist.

well...the far-right was the tool that leftism needed all along!

[–] kredditacc@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 3 days ago

It's not exactly the far-right, it's the incompetent leader that is the inevitable consequence of populism which was created by the people's frustration with the eroding system of Capitalism. In short, Captalism is its own unmaker.

This definitely feels like an unintentional side effect, but I’m still glad it’s happening!

[–] yogthos@lemmygrad.ml 15 points 3 days ago

Indeed, although it probably won't last as they'll restart stuff like anti China programs in short order under Rubio. I think this was just a way to cut everything at once and then decide what to restore on case by case basis. One side effect though is that it exposed the sheer amount of manipulation the US does and many orgs that claimed to be independent as being on US payroll. That's the real damage to US propaganda machine going forward.

lol Chinese users usually notice more lib trolls/bots appear during democrat presidencies, starting to go down again

[–] sunbleachedfly@lemmygrad.ml 17 points 4 days ago

I've been thinking about what kind of far-reaching effects all of this would have on imperialist interests & am delighted to see it's doing exactly what I expected.
