Democrats have mostly decided that moving further to the right is the way to go. That it didn't help them in the 2024 election doesn't seem to matter. At some point, I hope the few who have kept their values intact start their own party.

Gavin Newsome wants to be the savior of the DNC and to ride the wave of anti-Trump sentiment to become a popular and beloved leader. But he's a monster with strangely close ties to the Trump family via his ex-wife Kimberly Guilfoyle, Don Jr.'s girlfriend.
Newsome can't be trusted and it's nice to see he's showing why by speaking his mind. He was shitty as a mayor and is reactionary as a governor.
"Breaks with"
Right? It's an odd way to say "embraces the party abandonment of the politically unpopular people."
Ladies and gentlemen the "new" direction of the Democrats.
Excuse me while I go puke.
Frankly the question of transgender women in sports should be answered by those in the women's sports associations and their players. Anyone else is simply not invested enough to have a fair perspective on the matter. Let's be honest here, how many people even watch women's sports to begin with? Still, it sucks Newsom sounded off like this.
As goes California, so goes the nation. Liberals have been taking baby steps for years now to slowly shove us back into the closets.
It's how incrementalism actually works.
A steadfast march to the right, incremental fascism
Goddam liberals.
I agree with Gavin Newsome.
Apparently, attempting to have a conversation about it here is also offensive to moderation. If you even question trans people or the trans community, you're immediately moderated.
And they say Lemmy is an alternative to Reddit. 🙄
There's an interesting and nuanced conversation to be had about fairness in sports. Many athletic associations have guidelines in place that allow trans athletes to compete in a way that is as fair as possible to them and other competitors. Are they all perfect? Probably not, but having this conversation in the first place is the best way to ensure these associations can make competition as fair as possible to trans and cis athletes alike.
But of course this conversation will never take place, because the goal was never to make women's sports more fair. It's always been about trans erasure.
The easy solution is to get the government (including schools) out of sports entirely. Make them independent clubs, and they can set their own rules.
Schools are too focused on their sports programs anyway.
