Trump said last week, "There are two ways Iran can be handled: militarily, or you make a deal" to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

We had a deal. You broke it you colossal asshole.

Even then it doesn't matter, CUSMA was negotiated by him and look how that is playing out.

Everything Iran has said about the US in the past appears to be actually true with the current administration. Why would they bother negotiating?

[–] alkbch@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 weeks ago

Not just with the current administration

As an American, an i supposed to cheer for Iran in this situation? Trump is more likely to destroy us.

[–] BarbecueCowboy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 26 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

No one to cheer for, we don't do good guys anymore, just various levels of bad guys fighting between themselves.

[–] alkbch@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 weeks ago

It’s been a while we haven’t done good guys

Should submitters upload thumbnails or will it fetch one automatically ?

[–] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 20 points 2 weeks ago

Reuters is not a fan of VPN's and scrapers. The Lemmy image search bot fails to scrape their thumbnails. Newer Lemmy versions have a manual option to fix this but .world needs to update first.

It will automatically if the target site doesn't block the request (Cloudflare, rate limits, etc). Per community rules and best practice, the original article URL must always be the post url; uploading a thumbnail will override that (currently).

Once LW updates past 0.19.6 or so, there should be a field for custom thumbnail where you can do so (in addition to the post URL). I don't know how the rules apply to that (not yet relevant for LW), but I would hope people wouldn't abuse that to post unrelated images. Prob something to bring up to the mod team once LW updates to a version that supports custom thumbnail images during post creation.

IMO, just drop the original link. If the thumbnail works, it works. If it doesn't, it doesn't.

You know, I have no idea.
I think it depends on the linked-to servers.
If the server thinks the Lemmy thumbnail/summary generator is a bad bot, it will not return a thumbnail. If it's actually a decent web server, I think the Lenny instance will generate & distribute a thumbnail automatically and attach a summary.
I presume this is handled by the posts hosting instance.

I've noticed some sites that get linked to don't have a thumbnail and some sort of "prove you aren't a bit" subtext/caption.
And others work fine

uhhhh... does that mean that they either have or are close to a warhead?

[–] Litebit@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

yes, especially with russia helping them.

[–] hark@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

Trump doesn't even negotiate in good faith with the US's allies, it's even worse for a country like Iran. Why the hell should Iran negotiate with this clown? They're making the right call here.

[–] middlemanSI@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Is there no one this guy isn't attacking? Maybe Vlad. He's doing the fucking around thing. I think it's called the art of the veal or something, wasn't listening.

[–] Litebit@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Iran is backed by Russia, Trump is screwed for supporting Russia.
