Unfortunately true. It’s disturbing to see the non-policy-related causes from that page:
Police discrimination (a crime)
Vandalism (a crime)
Discriminatory housing practices (currently a crime)
Gentrification (a market effect)
Supplemented with actual policy change. They don’t need the help.
In this age of ubiquitous phone cameras and instant social judgement, I look forward to the backlash as racists reveal themselves.
In 2019, sociologist Heather O'Connell wrote that sundown towns are "(primarily) a thing of the past".[25] However, historian James W. Loewen notes persisting effects of sundown towns' violently enforced segregation even after they may have been integrated to a small degree, a phenomenon he called "second-generation sundown towns."
I don't see anything in the linked article to suggest we "still have fucking sundown towns."
Look instead for the reported causes. The effect “is sundown town or not” might be difficult to conclusively prove or disprove. The causes are sometimes documented though.
Black owned businesses - you know what to do.
i live in the south, there is still a lot of unofficial segregation, specially in churches, but also in neighborhoods, bars, playgrounds and other places of gathering
Not just the South. Here's the racial dot map for a so-called "integrated' city in the midwest (Chicago):
Compare that to the dot map for Atlanta:
I don't know about you, but I, for one, am not seeing an appreciable difference in the amount of non-homogeneous areas.
There's a reason MLK called us the “most racist city in America“!
😞…
That's everywhere
Last time he was president it was BLM and critical race theory. Now it's woke and DEI. Doesn't matter what it's called it's the exact same thing: If you're not a white male they don't think you matter. And in a year it'll be replaced with another acronym and everyone will forget about DEI just like they forgot about all the others.
Oh, you think they forgot about CRT? They did not. They have funneled CRT into "woke and DEI", and they are still very pissed off about the Civil Rights movement to start with. Now that they will start leveraging the anti-Christian bias thing against gay marriage and muslims, it will all fall into place. Rest assured.
So the clause, 52.222-21 Prohibition of Segregated Facilities was removed but I think it's because under the definitions of that clause it defines "Gender Identity" and "Sexual Orientation". Most of the clauses removed or edited refer to one of these definitions. It feels like they Ctrl+f'ed the FAR to find any mention of gender. As someone who writes contracts for the government for a living, getting the email to say remove these clauses made me feel disgusting. I hate it here.
Soon we will be banning indoor plumbing got to bring them out houses back.
It's happening already
Where?
Certain places? Like, Washington?
oh, finally!
