The updated version of the poem should go, "First, they came for the Communists, and I did not speak up, because the Communists disagreed with me when I said that the Russians and Chinese are automatically evil in every situation. We NEED to tell BOTH SIDES of every story. Except when I disagree strongly with one of the sides - then we should send anyone who disagrees with me to a concentration camp."
Also, "As for 'ideology driven,' I'm not quite sure what you mean," is one of the most amazing phrases I have ever read. "As a fish, I am not familiar with this 'water' you speak of."
