If improving leads to winning more...
and losing ELO leads to winning more...

Losing ELO is a sign of improvement!

I need to frame this above my desktop.

If video games have taught me anything its that my enemies getting harder means I am getting better (or angry and irrational)

It means you're going the right way!

son: "ready for the gym" (just finished an online game)

me: "howdya do?" (hoping he finally got his comeuppance)

me: ...regrets teaching him how to play

I swear I'm not sandbagging, chess.com... I'm just really streaky!

Have you hit +/- 200 rating swings on more than one occasion?

It's honestly pretty rare, but there have been times when I feel in the zone and climb a lot all at once, then drop again when I'm playing like normal or have poor focus.

Ahhh okay. Still that’s pretty amazing. Most people seem to just be stuck exactly where they are and only move in a narrow range. I think the streakiness shows you’re learning!

Let's go with that!
