General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

Why isn't this common knowledge

[–] MrPoletki@feddit.uk 20 points 1 week ago

Why do people always have to wait until he fucks them before they realise he's a fucker?

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

it is. everyone knows it. including his supporters. They're just in on it.

[–] Tippon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I wish that was true. I live in the South Wales valleys, and a significant number of people here think that he's a man of the people who's standing up for them and their rights. Tommy Robinson too :(

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

All he has to do is put on wellies every now and then and attend the odd farmers protest and everyone thinks he's some kind of saint.

All this despite the fact that he never turns up to parliament and has still not converted reform into an actual political party despite saying he would do so "in the next few weeks" over a year ago. I despair of the human race.

Don't forget that when he 'represented' us in the EU parliament, he barely turned up to work, and let the UK fishing rights get taken away, then protested with the fishermen!

Stephen Yaxley-Lennon or whatever posh name that guy has. Wasn't he ordering riots on a pool deck in Cyprus or something?

[–] Tippon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

How dare you dox poor old tiny Tommeh like that! He was working hard from his lilo before the loony left outed him!

For anyone reading this who's out of the loop, Tommy Robinson, aka Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, provoked and organised riots in the UK, but while the perpetrators were being arrested, he took his family away on a foreign holiday 'for their safety'.

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I thought he was already on holiday when it was all kicking off?

[–] Tippon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ah, possibly, it's been a while. Either way, he was one of the main organisers / agitators, and acted like a victim when it was pointed out that he was perfectly safe on holidays while the muppets who followed him were getting arrested.

Then he got locked up for being a lying bag of shite. Well he was first proven in court to be a lying piece of shite, and then refused to stop being, you guessed it, a lying sack of shite, so they locked him up for contempt of court.

He's currently crying that his mental health is suffering from being locked up in solitary during his time inside. They have to keep him in solitary because there are a lot of people inside that want to skullfuck his twitching corpse, apparently.

Personally, I'm good either way. Let the fucker suffer the consequences of his abhorrent actions.

Edit: Worth pointing out that during this whole time, he continues to spew the exact set of lies that got him where he is, as if he has the sway to make it reality. He'd be hilarious if he wasn't such a dangerous influence on the truly fucking stupid amongst us.

More people need to realise he’s private schooled finance manager posted tool of the elites he pretends to rail against

He added: “The fella who says he stands up for British industry is hanging on the coat tails of Donald Trump whose tariffs will put at risk thousands of good quality jobs in Britain’s manufacturing heartlands.

“His driving through of Brexit did lasting harm to the UK economy, including those jobs in engineering and in manufacturing. He hasn’t got a coherent economic plan.”

Oh that's great to read that the trade unions are now pushing for the Labour to abandon Brexit and rejoin the EU and allow freedom of movement back into the UK.

Wait.... I think that's what he's saying? 🤔😅

In fairness they were saying the same thing before the referendum to all of the Nissan workers in Sunderland and they all voted to leave anyway because they're ultimately self-destructive idiots.

Ah, I see the 'Truth Unconfortable for Cretins' chief has uttered another uncomfortable truth.

Imagine looking at what the US is doing to itself and thinking "I'll have some of that, please". 10,000 grit brains I swear to god.

How can you say Russian plant, millionaire former commodities trader Nigel Farage isn't a working class man of the people?

He hates immigrants, drinks pints and has brown teeth! Just like a real working class!

I find it quite funny that the word "cosplay" is so ubiquitous now that trade union leaders are using it.
