"No, no, we didn't plan a coup" as they plan yet another coup. What I don't get is that Trump is old enough that he could drop any second. Like, literally, any second the cosmic dice could roll "stroke", "massive coronary", "fall down go boom". What's the plan when Trump goes tits up ten days into his next term? Mummify his body like Lenin and claim he's giving direction from beyond the grave?

[-] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 45 points 1 year ago

Pretty sure that is the plan.

They’ll replace him with a “moderate”, which is really just code for “closet asshole” and everyone will be relieved, fat and happy

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.one 19 points 1 year ago

Follow the North Korean plan and annoint Trump Jr. who then proceeds to kill his siblings to remove any competition.

[-] morphballganon@mtgzone.com 6 points 1 year ago

He'll get a more radical running mate this time. Supporters will follow them at first and fizzle out, meanwhile the grifters keep grifting

[-] brambledog@infosec.pub 4 points 1 year ago

Peter theil wants Ramaswamy, he seems to be the front runner for the pick.

[-] JJROKCZ@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago

There is no way republicans vote for a brown man

[-] Carvex@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

The brown man thinks he's one of them, but they call him slurs behind closed doors.

[-] billwashere@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Pretty sure that interview with the “coherent” Trump that was very likely an AI with a generated voice was very much a test run of this very scenario.

Here it is folk’s, their plans laid out in front of you in black and white… What are you going to do to stop these fascist criminals from stealing our country right in front of you in plain sight?

Republicans will never stop trying to steal elections

Republicans will never stop trying to destroy American democracy

Republicans will never stop committing crimes to reach their anti American goals

[-] TwoGems@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago

I'm gonna volunteer to get people registered to vote for 2024 cuz I dunno what else to do and work the elections. That's all I can do for now, anyway.

[-] HoustonHenry@lemmy.world 33 points 1 year ago

SMH an army of tech-illiterate boomers, just what we need!

[-] AllonzeeLV@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

tech-illiterate boomers

That's redundant.

[-] febra@lemmy.world 27 points 1 year ago

So it's official. They are trying to seize power through any means necessary. If this doesn't look like something straight out of the nazi playbook then I don't know what does.

[-] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 20 points 1 year ago

Everybody just feel free to vote for whatever niche party you prefer... In local elections.

[-] Beetschnapps@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

“Oh no Green Party is the answer. It’s the democrats standing in the way of progress.”

/s for all the morons.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

I can't help but notice the Greens never seem to run downticket elections. They always want to start at the top. Fuck the Libertarians, but at least they run for everything down to dog catcher.

[-] iHUNTcriminals@lemm.ee -5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

American democracy fucks itself. We don't need to do anything. Let it fuck itself till it's dead and while it's doing that gain knowledge of life in chaos. Millions of criminals are way ahead of regular people.

Edit: if you find a way for me to gain some hope again just let me know.

[-] Beetschnapps@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Sounds like a young man’s game. Maybe take hope in that there are plenty of other ways to learn the same lesson without a level of chaos that leads to massive suffering? It can always seems like the last straw but Dylan had that lyric “it looks like it’s dying but it’s hardly been born”.

The states have a population of what like 300 million? They shouldn’t suffer because less than 10% chose selfishness?

Hope comes from people like you and I digging in and saying NO. Change is hard, it should be, but resigning to chaos is worse.

[-] iHUNTcriminals@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Thanks... That helped a bit. 🙌

[-] cybersandwich@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

Wouldnt this violate the Hatch Act?

[-] TechyDad@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

They likely just arrest anyone that tries to stop them, including judges or members of Congress. Then, they'll appointment right wing judges who say that this is all 100% legal.

[-] jonne@infosec.pub 3 points 1 year ago

Laws don't matter in normal times, what would stop them when they're actually running the administration with a sympathetic AG and supreme court?

[-] SulaymanF@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

When did Heritage Foundation go from principled “traditional conservative” to evil Steve Bannon “burn it all down” MAGA?

[-] Efwis@lemmy.zip 13 points 1 year ago

They finally had the catalyst in the white house that gave them the opportunity to show their real colors.

[-] sapient_cogbag@infosec.pub 3 points 1 year ago

Being more polite about the bigotry, authoritarianism, and contempt for non-rich people didn't make it better.

It's just reached the point that they don't have to hide it with dogwhistles.

[-] SulaymanF@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

This just shows the sheer 9-year old ignorance of Republicans who support this. Literal wars were fought until all sides agreed to let elections decide who had the right to rule. Civil Service was created to create a technocratic meritocracy and nonpartisan government system. They want to scrap both of these and go back to fighting?

Someone needs to tell Republicans than under the old system before the Civil Service, the president would mass-fire all government employees and replace them with political party members, regardless of competence. If they want to go back to that, would they be happy in 4 years with Democrats doing the same upheaval? Did Bush appointing only Republicans in charge of Iraq make it a better place?

[-] fubo@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Obvious sting op is obvious.

[-] iHUNTcriminals@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Funded by world wide crime. Not every street crim is a poor person struggling for money. Fuck gangs.

You'd think someone would have taken him and Roger stone out by now.
