"it's a privilege, not a right to freely do business with others"

I thought that was the central thesis of your whole bullshit philosophy

They can just do that? What happens to the international students there now?

[–] ragebutt@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 2 weeks ago

I’ve read some articles that say they have to transfer to another university but I don’t know if that’s conjecture or what a timeline would be if it is true

Isn't Harvard a private university? Why does the federal government have any say in how Harvard is run?

[–] Carl@hexbear.net 21 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The law about foreign students coming to the US requires that the student attend a school listed on the SEVP list, taking them off the list means that all of Harvard's non-citizen students either need to re-enroll in another school or be deported, and new foreign students can't enroll in Harvard at all.

[–] MayoPete@hexbear.net 1 points 2 weeks ago

Thanks for clearing that up. Ugh

Excellent way to infuriate liberal parents around the world who dream of sending their kids to Harvard. Overachieving kids outside the USA will also be furious about this. Harvard is one of a handful of schools in the USA that people in other countries have actually heard of.
