Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

If we're all going to die anyway, give up your salary and healthcare, Madam Senator.

Oh? You won't because your rhetoric is bullshit?

Sic semper tyrannis.

Hey my Iowa neighbors! Do you really still believe at this point that your Republican reps have your best interests at heart? I would love to come over there and hit the river boats and shit again, but not while you keep voting for trash like this self-centered greedy cunt and old man Grassley. Treat yourselves better than this, you deserve it.

Love, Your cheese supplying friend.

Iowa really has become a bottom tier state over the past 12+ years. The biggest draw, the lakes, rivers, and nature, is slowly going away or becoming unusable thanks to chemical runoff. You're more likely to get cancer here than most other states thanks to all of the glychophosphates (weed killer) we freely throw all over, and the current government wants to take away your ability to sue the manufacturers responsible if you get sick. If you're a minority, if you're not in a big city, you will be treated like a second class citizen, and if you're in the West, you should avoid stopping until you leave the state. The education system which used to rank well amongst other states has crumbled and it a bottom dweller, thanks to policies cutting funding and the voucher program enriching private schools. And to your point and all of them I've made, the state and most local government are comprised of slimy rats out to hurt others and make money for themselves.

If I were single, I'd have left this cesspool years ago even if I had to sell all of my stuff to do it. Unfortunately, my spouse isn't willing to moving further away from her family. I'd tell my family they can come visit me at my new digs.

If you're reading this, don't come to Iowa. Don't give this place any money. The brain drain is real, and I don't see this changing. Watch the next election cycle. If Rob Sand, the only bright light in the Iowa legislature, wins the governorship, then there's a chance. He's the state auditor and wins bipartisan votes. He gets shit done and Brenda Bird, the super Nazi AG, keeps targeting him because he's good. If he doesn't win, all is for sure lost.

Similar things are happening in Missouri too. Our politicians are even more insane though.

Man, I've stopped following politics in Iowa since I left that shit hole after trump won the first time, and I hate going back. I feel bad for my wife's family who are stuck there and can't afford to move, but no way in fuck would I stay there for anything longer than a long weekend.

Turdstache really fucked over the state, and it amazed me just how quickly the people dropped the mask and turned into the stereotypical hateful redneck goon people think of when thinking of backwoods Midwest.

Sociopaths, they're all sociopaths. These are the things sociopaths say with a straight face.

I'm not being hyperbolic I'm not trying to be inflammatory by just using buzzwords and calling people names. I'm actually saying these people are literally sociopaths. We are a country run by people with severe untreated personality disorders.

The last one there has been dead for about two decades, if you go by class mobility / ability to get a better income and life than your parents.
