If you whip it sideways you might be able to get them both

[–] AgentOrangesicle@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

Good thinking, Agent.

New trolly problem just hit!

[–] outhouseperilous@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Right. How do you hit both?

Or do you lose your pride as a driver?

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

We should probably frame all of lifes choices as trolley problem models. Speaking of which I'd like to proudly nominate now that our next president be Mr Shia Le Bouf, with carrot top as his VP. The two are obviously better than a third term for trump and couchfucker Vance, and we have to think of harm reduction. Do you want Shia or Trump?

[–] starman2112@sh.itjust.works 3 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

If 75 million people are pulling the lever towards Shia, 75 million people are pulling the lever towards Trump, and 2 million are trying to divert it to a third track, then I'm helping pull it towards Shia

"Sorry, but your brake subscription has expired."

Also, that would require a Tesla's systems to function, which is not a guarantee.

"We are sorry, but this arboreal feature is on the property of an Amazon™ warehouse, and you have not accepted the necessary licensure and non-disclosure agreement to enter. Steering Wheel will remain locked."

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world -1 points 6 days ago (2 children)

trolley problem says there is never any sort of third choice. You have to hit one. Which is why it works so well in political discusisons. Politics becomes not the 'art of the possible', but the art of holding your nose and doing what you are effing told.

So we are hitting the old lady then, right?

[–] Mustakrakish@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Well the trolley problem is a reflection on action vs inaction (which is still dumb imo), but in this senario, if you don't have time to brake that's your fault as the driver for going atound the curve too fast.

[–] starman2112@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

It's not about "doing what you are effing told," it's about taking the action that will most likely lead to the least harm. Like, the resurrected corpse of Karl Marx would obviously make for a better president than either the resurrected corpse of Adolf Hitler or the resurrected corpse of George Washington, but if Zombie Hitler is anticipating 75 million votes, Zombie Washington is anticipating 75 million votes, and Zombie Marx is anticipating 2 million votes, you would be a fool to vote Zombie Marx

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 0 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

I think you massively discount the harm caused by allowing any zionist to win. What we need to tell our party leadership -- at all costs-- is if they push a zionist on us they cant win.

You get what you demand and you encourage what you tolerate. We cant tolerate genocide support within our own party as some sort of political calculation.

[–] starman2112@sh.itjust.works 0 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Again, if 150,000,000 people are voting for a zionist anyway, then voting for the non-zionist doesn't help anyone. The best you can hope for is the slightly less harmful zionist. The only way you can not allow any zionist to win is if you do something really cool that I'm not allowed to recommend

You must understand that the average american likes Israel, and so any party that stops supporting israel may gain your vote, but they will lose many more

Lessor evilsim is pusdeo-intellecual slop. It's literally how they've consolidated power and pushed the overton window off the right-ward cliff entirley. Especially when that "lessor evil" is only pressing the gas halfway instead of to the floor, but no one is offerring to brake despite the brick wall we're hurlding towards.

Politicians earning your vote is literally the cornerstone of democracy. Not you fallung into line with your vote. But this lessor evilism cancer has taught them they don't actually have to fight for people or do anything with their power to stay in office, they just need to be a bit better than the other guy. So all they give us is lip-service, while people die in the street, ICE detentions accelerated under Biden, Roe v. Wade was never codified despite being a running promise of multiple presidents, hell they couldn't even legalize weed which would have been an easy win. Just give them money cause the other guy is so bad and "democracy is under attack", never mind their own complaiency to get to this point in the first place with this literal strategy.

People lile to talk about the frog in the boiling water. The GOP definitely represents cranking the heat up to 11, but the dems don't represent turning the heat down, or better yet off. No they represent keeping the temp where it currently is, or maybe even "compromising" and turning it up just a little. And when shit keeps flip-flopping betqeen the two, you're still just turning the temp to boiling. We need to knock the damn pot off the stove.

[–] starman2112@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 days ago

Yeah you're right it's a good thing Trump won actually

[–] kerrigan778@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 6 days ago

Oh no I charged too much, I'm blowing up.

this car's a lost and blinded fool...oh no I've said too much. I said it all.

Buncha Jordan Petersons in these comments. "I simply wouldn't find myself in this moral dilemma to begin with" lmao

[–] Doxin@pawb.social 1 points 3 days ago

To be fair, if you DO find yourself in this moral dilemma you're a shit driver. People don't just teleport into the middle of a crosswalk. If you're going at such a speed to where a granny can make it 3/4rds across the crosswalk but you're going too fast to stop... you're going too fast period.

If you drift, you can catch them both!

[–] OwlPaste@lemmy.world 29 points 1 week ago

why is that baby not on a leash!

[–] mwproductions@lemmy.world 27 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I still remember one of the questions on my written driving test from almost 30 years ago. It was something like:

A group of pedestrians start crossing the road in front of you, just as the light turns green for you. What do you do?

  • Honk your horn and yell at them.
  • Nothing, just wait for them to finishing crossing.
  • Rev your engine to scare them into crossing faster.
  • Hit one to teach the rest a lesson.

I was so tempted to pick the last option.

[–] RickyRigatoni@retrolemmy.com 4 points 6 days ago

A, C, and D in that order.

[–] Anomalocaris@lemm.ee 22 points 1 week ago

if you drift you could hit both

[–] usualsuspect191@lemmy.ca 20 points 1 week ago

My truck is lifted so that I can safely cruise over all the babies in the road. Just gotta keep them between the tires.

[–] kn0wmad1c@programming.dev 13 points 1 week ago (5 children)

Trying to hit all two
But I don't know if I can do it

[–] 0ops@lemm.ee 1 points 6 days ago

It's like bowling, if you hit one pedestrian at just the right angle you can knock them into the other
