I'm back after a pretty long break! You might remember my oil rig from a few months ago.

The factory turns 1800 iron ore, 750 limestone and 1000m3 of water into 20 heavy modular frames every minute.

The long building is 50 iron refineries, and the tower is most of the rest.

anyways, here are some more photos of the outside:

The refinery building is pretty funky as you can see:

There is also a battery storage unit, an antenna and some concrete refinieries:

Here are some photos of the inside of the main building:

I am especially proud of the load balancers in the back that turn the various amounts of iron on each conveyor into 6 full ones and one partway full one.

While the materials are acquired on-site, this site is still connected to the rail network I showed in the last post.

Anyways, I learned quite a bit from this project, especially that I should plan interior decor ahead of time, instead of winging it.

Here is the map of my world, the pictured factory is at the top:

Tell me what you think!

would also be appropriate for !automationgames@lemmy.zip

That's a game I'd love to play, but right now I still have a semblance of a life left and I'm not sure I want to risk that.

Oh yeah? Well I'm 20 hrs in, and built a concrete factory that doesn't plug anymore!

Thats beautiful, I really need to play satisfactory again. I played the early versions and absolutely hated it but it looks so good now.

Looks amazing. I've played tons of factorio, only tried satisfactory once for a little bit before going back to F, but after this post, I might have to give it another try.

I didn't realize it could look so pretty...

Yeah at first during onboarding when you're running like one smelter into one constructor on the ground with a wavy belt and spamming power poles everywhere it's kinda goofy but when you start designing factories you can make some cool looking stuff.

The key is conveyor belt placement mode, you gotta set it to straight. That, and foundations to have everything aligned and level.

[–] dalekcaan@lemm.ee 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

They just added straight mode for pipes too

[–] Blisterexe@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

and the curve mode is amazing too, especially for aligning stuff with rails

I'd suggest looking at some building tips videos on Youtube. Builds look tons better when you align things properly, and there are some handy tools in Satisfactory like grid snapping and nudging that can help with getting everything just right.

I really miss the days guides were text with images instead of YouTube, YouTube, YouTube. Blah blah typical Lemmy anticorporate views, but more importantly, I'd rather just read and have something I can CTRL+F instead of having to sit through a video. At least transcripts help with trying to skip to the part I need. And at least people who don't handle reading so well have a format someone is guaranteed to have made a tutorial in. But as a reader I am saddened by watch a video being what everyone suggests now for tutorials. Especially because nowadays, sometimes there is only a video, no book or article.

Yeah, imo satisfactory has the ability to have both worse spaghetti and prettier factories. The world itself is also just very beautiful and full of detail, especially if you have a good enough computer to turn on all the fancy lighting and graphics settings.

[–] philpo@feddit.org 2 points 2 days ago

Now make it 60! That's the only number that counts! One per second!

(And yes, that's doable,done that,but won't do it again..it wasn't pretty,it wasn't fun)

[–] burntbacon@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

That's amazing. How did you build the vertical space? I built about 300 observation towers into a lovely platform to 'skydive' from, and then my game lagged out. I have a really old comp, so it was expected, but still grumbling worthy. I couldn't really get the hang of the vertical building without stacking and deleting platforms.

[–] Blisterexe@lemmy.zip 5 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Thanks! I used walls to measure out the height each floor then built out the platforms, I used the jetpack and the hoverpack to be able to get the heignt required.

My pc is a fairly recent midrange so I haven't had too many performance issues yet.

Not enough ~~bike~~ car traffic lanes./s

Eternity on android is lagging on this post lol.

[–] squaresinger@lemmy.world 1 points 13 hours ago

Never had Eternity lag before. Impressive.

[–] Harvey656@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

So is Summit.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

so like, at what conditions do you start a new world?

[–] Blisterexe@lemmy.zip 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

When I get the golden nut, I suppose.

This is my second world, but only because my first world was too haphazard for my tastes, whole parts weren't aligned to the world grid.

your work is beautiful. it scratches my ocpd itches wonderfully.

[–] CatsGoMOW@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

How tf do people build stuff like this? Looks beautiful!

[–] piskertariot@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

Looks incredible. I love this game so much.

I have only just started creating individual off-site factories for major production. I have a hefty boy that produces 250 stators per minute, but it's not nearly as pretty.

[–] Redacted@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 days ago

Too neat and organized, none of your belts are overlapping through each other? How do you live like this?
