I remember when people were so excited to elect this guy. Hate to say I told you so, but I predicted he would be the second coming of Sinema.

[–] Sprocketfree@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 hours ago

Yea I was one of them. Boy did I get that wrong

I remember when people were so excited to elect this guy.

Yeah, because he was running against Mehmet Oz, who is RFKJR with medical credentials, somehow, and a disgrace to all turks everywhere.

Fun fact, my dad tried to paint him as a turkish role model/aspirational figure, back when he was more well known for surgery and being on Oprah.

Instead, you got brain-dead Mehmet Oz.

Quite the trade.

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

right, however, before his brain injury Fett was a union man, etc.

Seeing as how there are always designated no votes in the Democratic Party at the Federal level, and you've seen this since the 90's, I don't think the TBI is the reason why he's voting conservative. He's getting personally enriched, just like all the other rotating villains.

I gauge things through his spouse and how she was a large part of his popularity and momentum on the campaign trail, especially after the stroke and the primary.

So on some level people were kind of voting for her. And she's pretty much disappeared.

Interesting.

I'd honestly never heard about that detail before. I'll have to read more about him.

I'm not American but it seems that the article focuses too much on the bill. His Wikipedia page is kinda decent for a politician, or am I missing something?

Edit: Downvote me and don't explain since I'm a fucking foreign guy, pure reddit moment, I'm lovin it.

He started off as someone who seemed to buck the system and has since basically gained RFK's brainworms.

[–] justlemmyin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

[–] thisbenzingring 51 points 1 day ago

[–] PrettyFlyForAFatGuy@feddit.uk 30 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He turned into a DINO after a traumatic brain injury

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

this comment has had government funding revoked

[–] ZombiFrancis@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago

After his stroke his spouse became a strong component of his campaign. She seemed more progressive speaking on his behalf.

At that point though it was all hands on deck to prevent Oz and the GOP winning.

[–] dyathinkhesaurus@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

He wants the role and title, but not the job.

[–] IronJess@lemmy.today 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

When Sinema left the GOP had to have controlled opposition with Manchin and Fetterman was her replacement.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

This is the way. There's always gotta be a Feinstein, or a Manchin, or a Sinema. Otherwise how will the rubes ever swallow all of the Democrats' excuses?
