Developer of Connect here. Congratulations on the launch and Liftoff looks great!

[-] mykl@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Thanks. I’d not heard of Connect before, but it’s so exciting to see so many other great apps under development. It will keep us all on our toes!

[-] dmtalon@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

You are not stripping spaces at the end of login names in your app (sorry to ping you here but saw your reply and it reminded me to ask)

I couldn't get logged in to connect, or liftoff, then noticed I had a space (From selecting the suggestion on my phone). Didn't catch it until just now trying to login to liftoff. I've seen a couple complaints about getting logged into these apps. Wonder if I'm not alone with the extra space.

Seems like most reddit clients are named: "BlaBla for reddit". It makes it easy to find clients for reddit. I wonder if this would also be beneficial for lemmy clients.

[-] Chestrade@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah I agree. It would be easier to find. When I search for Liftoff, there is a bunch of games involving planes.

[-] muaveri@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Hopefully soon on f-droid as well

[-] falconfetus8@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

This is a pretty nice app! I especially like that it shows me content from multiple Lemmy instances, without my home instance needing to federate with them!

I have some feedback, though: when I see content from lemmy.ml, the app should use my lemmy.world account to vote and comment, as if I were viewing that instance through lemmy.world. It really defeats the purpose of federation if I can't use the same account, after all.

[-] gon@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I second this, intensely! It's very silly...

[-] Willer@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

Is making an account on every instance a thing that should really be done?

[-] gon@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Fundamentally, I think it doesn't really matter. But as the first commenter said, the point of federation is that you only need 1 account on 1 federated instance to interact with everything. If the app doesn't let you do that, it's just defeating the point.

[-] Thr3eThirds@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

After downloading it and using all afternoon. Love it my only comment on the UX

  • lines between cards on the dark amyloid theam.

Thats it. Otherwise it is pretty nifty.

[-] Willer@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I cannot comment on a lot of stuff i can with jerboa for some reason. It throws "you are not logged in there"

[-] jmpavlec@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Was having trouble figuring out how to collapse comments... Finally stumbled on pressing and holding. Maybe this will help someone else using Liftoff.

[-] mykl@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

We're making it a simple tap in the next release so don't get too set on the long press :-)

[-] UnpopularBrainRot@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

This is how I have it in boost, comment controls (vote, reply etc) hidden by default, simple tap to show/hide those controls, long tap to collapse comments.

Signing in to first account only let me use email not username (lemmy.world) second account attempt to add (beehaw) produced an error. Android, Google pixel 6 pro. Didn't really want to post here in your launch post but couldn't find a place to enter bugs.

[-] cardinal@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I think beehaw is having issues

[-] zachatrocity@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah beehaw was down

[-] RomanRoy@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Really nice, but I'm wondering about some choices

Why "everything" exists?

I thought All meant that, while Local meant your instance only and Subscribed is whatever you are subscribed to.

Also, this seems to lead to some issues interacting with other instances overall. I can't subscribe to an instance while looking at everything, even tho it is federated to mine.

I can see why the devs did it this way Maybe organization and all? But is it not defeating the purpose of the Fediverse?

[-] orbit@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I've got it installed via github but it doesn't show up in the search in the playstore for me

[-] banksymimosa@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Using it right now to post this! I like it!

[-] MakuNagetto@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

LOVE LOVE loving the UI

[-] Willer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago
[-] riktor@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Excited to see more apps being developed for Lemmy.

[-] KJ118@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

My favorite of the options I've tried so far, only request currently is to be able to remove the bottom bar when scrolling down the feed.

[-] niels@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

First time seeing this app, it looks incredible! I love seeing all the customization option for simple things like shadows and rounded corners. I am having issues logging in with a lemmy.world account though.

[-] SolNine@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

This App is very well done! Significant improvement over Jerboa, great work and thank you!

[-] supermurs@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Good job, the more apps the better!

[-] victron@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I'm using it right now and my Subscribed view only shows lemmy.word communities, even though I'm subscribed to communities from other instances. I still can browse them from the subscriptions section, but they don't show in my main view.

Edit: oh, found the setting that allows me to see ALL my subs, I guess.

Edit: nevermind, that setting also shows me communities that I'm not subscribed to... even though I'm selecting subscribed in the top dropdown.

The link works for me, but for some reason I can't find it when I search for it in the Play Store? I tried "liftoff", "liftoff!" and "liftoff Lemmy"...

[-] ghariksforge@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

What about Fdroid?

[-] mada_uw@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Ohh now we're talking. Have tried some of the different apps avalible for Android but this one feels like it, really like the ui. It crash for me when I try to read posts with alot of comments (yes I'm really trying to read that poop-post) Using a old phone with a older os so very likely that's why it's not working. Anyone experiencing the same? Or is really time for me to get a new phone?

[-] itadakimasu@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Scrolling is not smooth at all for me. Anyone else? Very jittery, low framerate. Pixel 7 pro.

[-] KrapKake@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

Not a pixel but I notice this as well and seems to only happen when scrolling comments. Connect for lemmy was way worse about this and would get laggier until completely locking up. Infact none of the apps I've tried feel smooth when scrolling comments. Regardless...I think I like this app the best so far.

[-] itadakimasu@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Hey I just discovered this Lemmy web app that's so very good so far! Better than any app I've tried.

Wefwef.app

I "installed" it as a PWA on my device and it's so good!

[-] victron@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I'm trying it right now. It's pretty good, I'm liking it more than thunder.

Edit: (editing from liftoff) ok, it's more than "pretty good". Let's wait and see what Sync for Lemmy comes up with, because liftoff is off to a great start.

[-] itsAsin@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

i agree that it is better than "pretty good".

it is so good that, short of a few UI tweaks, i cannot imagine a better user experience.

great job Liftoff devs!!

[-] Azz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Ahhh, smooth scrolling! NGL that is the only thing that was pushing me away from jebora!

[-] unphazed@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Might want to have the app autoselect some form of instance/community. I watched the loading circle for a minute before I started clicking around and selected communities to see it did in fact work.

[-] RexKev@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Installed this, liking it so far. Gotta get used to this UI over Jerboa's.

Edit- I can only browse communities within the three default instances added. Will I have to added each instance if I want to join any communities within them ?

[-] GreenFigFuture 1 points 1 year ago

It seems that it can't find my instance when I try and log in (lemmy.sdf.org)

[-] Elindio 1 points 1 year ago

I can't either. Glad it's not just me

[-] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Nice app! Feed view is not compact enough, though. I like the preview pane for settings, but it's not useful if I can't get my desired results.

[-] Aviandelight@kbin.social 0 points 1 year ago

The app looks great but I am finding that I am unable to participate in discussions on instances that I am not logged in on. Am I doing something wrong?

[-] mykl@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Check the feed dropdown at the top of the page. If you're using ...@your.home.instance you should be able to interact with everything you see. Using the everything feed or any other instance feed may well show you stuff you can't interact with.

[-] Aviandelight@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

That helps! Also I was clicking on the community/poster name to respond instead of clicking on the comment section at the bottom of the card.

[-] MrPumpernickel@kbin.social 0 points 1 year ago

Arg no kbin support? Does anyone know an app for kbin?

[-] ChanchoManco@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

They're under development but not released yet.
