Love it! I saw the owls straight away!
You had me to go back and find them, really nice!
It took me awhile to see that they’re owls, but damn I’d kill for that during winter right now.
It was amazing before I noticed the owls. The owls made it perfect. Pure art.
Fucking doooope! More crafts to Lemmy!!!! Hazaaah
Hi. I am not familiar with knitting at all. May I ask why you feel it's not perfect? Just trying to understand if it's a personal opinion or actual fault somewhere (that I don't see).
I'm probably my own worst critic, but I guess some spots don't look as "polished" or "neat" to me as I'd like. Some of the ribbing on the neck collar looks a little uneven. It's just small things that are probably more noticeable to me than anyone else. Also, it was only the 2nd sweater I ever knit, so I'm self-conscious about how good my work looks to anyone else.
I'm probably my own worst critic
Said every creative ever.
I haven't zoomed in or anything but I couldn't notice anything wrong or particularly un-neat. It just looks handmade to me. Nice work!
Don't be so harsh on yourself, it's awesome! The imperfections are the perfect level that will make another knitter go "Oh wow that's selfmade. So cool!" while other people won't notice them at all. Really nice work!
There's always little things we notice in our own projects that are basically invisible to the non-knitter. It's our curse!
Took me a while to see it. There are little owls around the neck. Nice pattern and we'll done.
Gorgeous sweater, op! You did a beautiful job, and you should be very proud of your work! It’s lovely!
This is amazing!!! Some of the small things you notice will even out / disappear from your mind in time. It looks great on you too!
That's so beautiful! Perfect yarn colour too.
considering she said it's her 2nd ever jumper, she did a really good job. I'm not even a knitter, but it looks really good!
You are so very talented! Not sure if you're just making things like this for yourself or not, but I know several others that would love to own something like this!
Love this pattern! It's a classic for a reason!
It looks great on you, totally know what you mean about being your own worst critic but we really do see the flaws so much more in our own projects than anyone else will. Achievement unlocked! Now what's your next big goal? :D
Thanks so much! I really want to try some colorwork next, I really love the squishy texture of brioche so I might go for that.
As a casual observer I don't see any mistakes, just wows.
Awesome! The owl pattern around the top looks really cool.
Absolutely love this. The buttons at the top also make for a nice detailing contrast.
That looks super comfy.
Wow! This is so beautiful - I love the pattern! The buttons for owl eyes -chefs kiss-
I love the pattern, amazing job!
That's impressive!
so cute!!!!
Congratulations on your project! I'm just starting my knitting journey as well, with a pullover as the end goal. How long was it before you felt comfortable tackling the project? The color is lovely! (Also, your hair is stunning, if you don't mind could you dm me your hair routine?!)
I'd made at least 10-15 smaller projects before I started on this, including a more basic knit "test" sweater with shorter sleeves. It still felt daunting starting this, but I just read through the pattern ahead of time and tried to understand when/why I'd have to do certain steps.
Thanks for the hair compliment! I could definitely dm you and share whatever you want to know, unfortunately the color I've been using has been discontinued so I'm about to try a new one soon 🤞
That does look fabulous! I saw you said this was the second sweater you made. Do you know off hand how many projects you made to get comfortable trying to make this one? Roughly how long it took you to get from starting? I've learned knitting a few times off and on, but never had a big project I actually wanted to do, and so always end up falling back out of it. This looks like something my wife would also love, but I'm not sure how long something like this would take or what I'd be getting myself into for something this large.
I always end up attracted to hats for myself, and then remember I can't really wear hats and give up before I even get started. My hair always either floats them off my head, or they make me overheat too easily. I had mostly figured I would just need to learn crotchet instead and then make some of those small plushie type things as desk decorations. I just have yet to make it as far as ever learning to crotchet.
Before I started on this sweater, I'd knit about 10-15 projects beforehand including some hats, headbands, cowls, and one really simple (short-sleeved) sweater. It took me about 6 weeks from start to finish but I had a lot of time each day to work on it. I also actually had learned to crochet before knitting and had crocheted several things.
They're both great crafts and there are a lot of nice tops you can make with just crochet if that's the craft you'd feel more comfortable learning first! There are a lot of great resources for learning both. I actually learned crochet from a book, but couldn't really grasp knitting from books, but was able to from videos.
Wow, that looks really good. Great work.
Wow, amazing.
I thought it was a Groot sweater until I read the pattern URL. Looks cool!
ahhh Owls.... tbh i thought they were the bunny from donnie darko (think it's the eyes)
This makes me want to knit so I can make that for my wife.
Wow, I love this! It's so cute!
Oh, that is such a pretty sweater! Seeing it makes me want to get back into knitting. Thank you for sharing the pattern, too; it gives me something to work towards!
Love the owls! Fun idea if you make another (and the buttons aren't already), if there are glow in the dark buttons you can use, maybe use some for the owl eyes!
Looks great!
"Not perfect?" Nonsense, it's quite perfect
Super cute, love the detail around the neck!
WoW. This will sell like crazy. I want one and I showed it to my coworker and even she needs one.
Are you talking about sweeping the pattern or the sweater itself? Because the number of hours in a sweater like that would require a massive price tag just to break even at minimum wage.
Unless you have machine-like efficiency, sweaters are the sort of thing you only make for yourself and a select few.
Still waiting on my wife to knit me that sweater she said she would fifteen years ago ...
My wife knocked out at least two full cowl sweaters between the completion of right sock and left sock. A lot of winters with one nice sock though.
It looks great, and you look great in it! Nice work 👍
Oh, I love this so much! You've done a great job. Also, thank you for sharing the pattern. Once I've had enough of sock knitting I want to make this!
I'd say perfect..
you look nice
