To be fair, that's not very surprising. A vibrator is just an electric motor and a battery in a casing
Plus they didn’t think women could have orgasms and needed a device to treat hysteria since doctors were getting RSI from “pelvic manipulation.”
Do women really do this? I always thought it was bullshit.
It is almost certainly an old thing that has carried over from the days where you couldn't buy vibrators in Walmart or shipped to your door same day with Amazon.

Every wife used to know this back in the day.
A lot of modern machines have load imbalance sensors that stop the machine if it isn't balanced. Some will even try to correct the imbalance.
So the brick trick doesn't work, stupid technology oppressing women's sexual wellness.
