Spotify is shitty to the artists and only exist because the major labels utilized the state to kill the organic Internet radio movement.
Slop.

I would love to read more about the internet radio movement if you have any recs
Thing is, I’m so old it’s something I experienced, not something I read about. This was back in the early aughts, you had people livestreaming sets. Very organic, tapped into the amateur/pirate radio movement. This was before the really big VC money got into everything, so these were small operations. Well the labels didn’t like it, so they lobbied to get a monetization scheme implemented that made it a per-listen cost to the internet radio “stations.” So they got punished for growth, which killed Internet radio for anyone except the traditional radio stations. Until Spotify came along and blitz scaled their way into bed with the labels.
The US is the largest danger to the EU. The EU needs to take a hard sober look at the US history of backing fascists and meddling. Especially Ukraine, UK, Germany, and Poland.
Europe is going to figure out why the Americans have such a crazy cost of living crisis.
The EU needs to take a hard sober look at the US history of backing fascists and meddling.
The only lesson EU will learn is how to do the same!
People think the war will magically end if Ukraine roll over and stop fighting Russia.
That would be the end of the war wouldn't it?
Schrödinger's Russia, simultaneously a militarily underdeveloped rump state on the verge of being destroyed by Ukraine using a smattering of Western weapons, but also an unstoppable superpower that will just roll over the entirety of Western Europe if Ukraine falls.
Ukronazis have resurrected domino theory
the US has lost most of the wars they've engaged in for the past however many years and that doesn't seem to stop them from starting new ones so what would stop russia too? or are we to believe that ukraine won't just expel the russians to the 2022 borders (already a pipe dream) but they will also continue the march unto moscow and topple the russian government?
The Ukronazi/German (also Nazi) nightmare is that Russia will conquer Ukraine, somehow revive the USSR, then roll tankie tanks through central Europe.
As usual with the delusional nightmares of the far right, it's simultaneously the most not gonna happen thing that ever won't happen and also would be sick as hell if it did happen, which it won't.
You're missing a really important point. These people don't think the US and Russia can be compared, because Putin is a dictator who's worse than Hitler. So any kind of rationality goes out the window.
you're right 😔
so what would stop russia too?
Resurrecting the “is russia imperialist” struggle session
more a comment of "if we defeat this country they'll be too ashamed to start another war" when if you look at it globally that's never the case, they'll start a new one whenever they think they can win; i didn't mean to make it a comment on "will russia will invade the baltics" or w/e which i don't think they will, lmao
I see what you mean.
My thinking was, from Russia’s view this is primarily a defensive war to prevent NATO encirclement, it’s not an imperialist expansionist war. The thing that will prevent them from further conflicts is to stop trying to encircle them with NATO. Which we know won’t happen.
Whatever and however Ukraine ends up, Europe and America will continue to fund conflicts while pinning the blame entirely on Russia to further their own imperialist ambitions of dominating Russia, and Europe will happily fall in step.
The usual. Fighting until glorious victory is reached, and while our vile enemy lives, we must hate each other forever, and willing to die by the million to ensure we can live in safety. Glory to the nation.
Europe was extremely brainwormed before too, but the war opened yet another Pandora's box.
God, I heard this "To give up everything for freedom, that is freedom" quote on the radio the other day but I didn't realise it was being spoken by a literal Nazi puppet.
That doesn't look like the uniform or symbol of a country that learned it's lesson
Mr over here is being very clear when he says
War in Europe is closer than many people think
The US will fund armed militia groups in whatever rump state remains in Ukraine, and they will start terrorist attacks on Europe. This will all be blamed on Russia, and used as an excuse for more of a police state, more austerity measures, and larger military budgets. And people in Europe will welcome it, in order to protect them from the "evil Russians"
Damn maybe Ukraine and Russia should engage in diplomacy instead or something I dunno.
Actually, the only moral thing would be for Europe to support Ukraine until they can get their act together, do a third counteroffensive, reclaim all the territory, and send Russia packing back home. This course of action would save lives (it definitely isn't being sold because it's a fantasy that just keeps the war going long past the point it ever should've reached).
If you don't support this, you're a Gen Z kid in your parent's upper middle class home so your criticisms are invalid.

hey Russia, what do you want?
No Ukraine in NATO would be a great start. I believe they've been saying that since the very beginning.
Absolutely. In fact they've been saying that since the 90s.
Enlightening perspective. I now support the European military industrial complex.
sorry Palestine!
My stance against jam bands is absolute and this will not sway me.
This comment confuses me because King Gizz isn't a jam band really at all. Well, maybe I just haven't investigated their live shows enough, but their studio albums are very un-jam band like, since a lot of them are concept albums that use leitmotifs and developing themes and stories across tracks and such.
I also don't think it makes sense to tie jam bands inherently to hippy-ism, since it's a pretty common approach practiced across several genres and subcultures.
right, they're more on the prog rock side of psych rock than jam band
I don't listen to them
Okay, so were you just guessing from the name?
That and the people I've known who are fans. And people who are online who are fans and how they talk about the band. Its either jam band or proggy wanky stuff. Either way im not interested and was making a broad generalization.
It's closer to prog, but more rich kids on drugs prog than dumb music student prog
I don't want either.
You said you liked when bands have multiple drummers, right? They used to have 2 a while ago.
Ive liked when certain bands hafe had more than one person on percussion. 2 people with a full kit sounds like a bit much. Mostly I like when Neurosis does it as well as a few similar bands. There was a pretty sick mathcore band called The End where the singer had a giant floor tom that he'd also be bashing during more atmospheric bits and recently while doing an experimental noise show with a pal we put a bunch of different drums and sticks in the crowd and made feedback noise and people took turns in the crowd and it was really cool. But it's not a selling point. The Melvins had 2 drummers for a while and I think theyre just ok
someone around here with some fucking principles!
