I'm not planning to read this. Because it's past time to even think we need an explanation of why they are a problem.

set aside stupid pyrotechnic parties which isn’t exclusive to gender/sex reveal parties. yes of course that nonsense should stop no matter what the occasion is.

let’s talk about normal parties. i appreciate the author’s intentions but i don’t think they actually demonstrated that run of the mill gender/sex reveal parties actually cause any harm to anyone. They insisted it does without providing any evidence which is not a skeptical mindset.

it’s not like these parties set in stone whatever decisions parents will make via a vis genitalia after birth. my guess is parents are going to decide whatever they’re going to decide whether or not they have a gender reveal party, but i’m open to hearing actual evidence on that.

Yes please, every single one I've been too has been nothing more than an excuse for the expectant mother to collect gifts.

Right? I already gave you gifts at the wedding AND the baby shower!

Wait, these aren't in place of a baby shower‽‽ Or combined with the baby shower? Who the fuck has enough money to give an expectant friend 2-3 damn gifts per child? This is just capitalism run amok.

Let people party. These parties are not for kids (they are too young at the moment) but for parents and friends. And no, nobody except for crazy legislators cares about what those kids have in their pants.
