As a not-horse-knower: is there a reason the bridle remains on if they're just chilling?

[–] confusedwiseman@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 9 months ago

The horse is wearing a halter. Think of it like a dog wearing a collar. A bridle is similar but the main difference is it has the part that goes through the horses mouth, the bit.

Hope that helps!

So that's a halter. It's used for moving the horse around on a lead rope. A bridle is used for riding. Leaving a halter on when a horse is turned out is personal choice/safety thing. I leave hers on at the barn she's currently at because she can't really get it caught on anything there, and it's easier to take her in if it's already on. She'll be moving to a new barn in a couple of weeks and she'll have things around that the halter can get caught on, so it'll get taken off there. Some people take halters off to keep them in good condition. I know someone with a $200 halter, so they always take that one off lol

Very much so I’ve been following Sandy’s story through the pictures and her big move, plus for selfish reasons it’s so nice to see a caring person with another creature. Just kind of clears my doomer cache for the next round. Thanks you for that (:

You're welcome! Sandy is a good girl who has had a rough life. I do what I can for her. Her fediverse fan club makes me so happy. I told my mom about her online fans and she got the biggest smile lol.

Was she also playing, on defense? 😉

[–] LaunchesKayaks@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Lmao. She got bored after a bit and started running along the fence like an idiot, so yes

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

Knew it! 😊

Why does this picture look altered with AI

[–] LaunchesKayaks@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Cause it's hella zoomed in lmao.
