Wearing a LGBTQ+ shirt with a text that says 'all colors are beautiful', which is of course ACAB. My manager, whose husband is a cop, came to me and said 'wow, cool shirt! All colors ARE beautiful!' and I thought that was funny.

This is my 100th comment on Lemmy. Figured it's only fitting to have it here in the General.
Thanks to everyone in the community, I've been learning a lot here <3

Stealing some inspiration from Oppo, here's a picture of a mighty-fine critter.

Leaving Reddit and X because this past week has been chaotic and I felt that I couldn't take it anymore, is the world going absolutely fucking mad? Yankee Stadium (FTY btw) honoring a hateful, homophobic, piece of crap; the NFL too! James Hetfield vows to take care of this dude's kids for the rest of their life, what the fuck? Reddit and X are filled with misinformation, calls to punish the left, non-sensical arguments constantly being thrown as facts. For a few days, I could not make sense of things!

I use Reddit for mostly non-political stuff, but last week was chaotic. My use of X has been sporadic because I know it's a shithole, but even the accounts I follow for science and stuff like that were posting or reposting a heavy dose of insanity. Things make more sense in here <3

[–] mymyredpanda@lemmygrad.ml 11 points 3 months ago

Those two shitholes of a social media must go what most people don’t realize is that most of the content on twitter and Reddit are just bots that side of the internet is dead

From our Brazilian comrades! They unfurl a 70-meter Palestinian flag on the Sao Paulo cable-stayed bridge.

Ah I wish that I could buy and show a billboard like this in my country:

[–] o_d@lemmygrad.ml 13 points 3 months ago (3 children)

Very cool! I translated it with Yandex, but it doesn't seem entirely accurate.

[–] rainpizza@lemmygrad.ml 18 points 3 months ago (2 children)

The translation should be like this:

  • MAY 9, 1945 GERMANY WAS DEFEATED
  • SEPTEMBER 3, 1945 JAPAN WAS DEFEATED
  • STALIN - THIS IS A VICTORY!

From an anti-zionist Jewish organization in Mexico:

Translation of the message:

  • There is no neutrality in front of a genocide
  • Mexico, Unite with the group of the Hague!
  • T-shirt message: Jews for a Free Palestine

Weekly Palestine demo in my city today and our party invited Chris Smalls from the Amazon union struggle and the Freedom Flotilla as he was at our festival this weekend. Pretty dope.

I'm watching this new movie, Warfare, about some soldiers in Iraq. It's a little hard not to notice that the good guys seem to be using the locals as human shields.

[–] pyromaiden@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 3 months ago

I remember actual military aficionados & and veterans alike roasting the movie for depicting US soldiers anachronistically using modern gear & kit.

An intentional design choice as like all American war movies it's supposed to be pro-military.

Coworker and I:

dude: "Man, it's fucking crazy people are celebrating the death of a guy who got assassinated"

me: "Isn't it crazy that people straight up had celebrations and town-wide festivals when MLK got shot?"

dude: "Yeah, but it was a different time"

I think this community shouldn't use the Juche calendar anymore, because the DPRK and KWP have ceased use of it as of the 1st of January 2025 in all official media. So it's not really honoring Korea anymore.

[–] o_d@lemmygrad.ml 13 points 3 months ago

Will we still be able to practice Juche necromancy?

[–] Commiejones@lemmygrad.ml 13 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I think its mostly a joke.

[–] blobii@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 3 months ago

That’s what I’ve deduced at this point.

I mean it can’t be that serious considering the community logo is Xi with laser eyes lmaooo

If Israel decides to invade areas to create their greater Israel (outside of Palestine), where do you think they will invade first? I think Southern Lebanon.

[–] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 14 points 3 months ago (1 children)

there are already areas occupied by Israel, still it will be a gargantuan task to occupy Lebanon. Last time they got their asses kicked out of there.

[–] burlemarx@lemmygrad.ml 11 points 3 months ago

If occupying Palestine is already making Israel pull out most of their resources, they don't have capability, at least not right now, to pursue an adventure in Lebanon. Israel will right now very likely focus on their genocide, since the victims are mostly unarmed children, women and the elderly and maybe afterward they will focus on the West Bank.

Israel will only have available resources to invade Lebanon after they end their genocidal frenzy in the Palestinian territory.

[–] rainpizza@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 3 months ago

I thought Syria will be the easiest prey. They already using the Druze factions to expand into Syria. As for Lebanon, it will be harder compared to Syria.

Recent PCV/JCV event in Venezuela. This took place in front of the monument dedicated to the USSR's victory over fascism in Caracas.

Based Egyptian store (Except for the Sisi picture and half-based for Putin)

[–] cfgaussian@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Seriously, why couldn't they have put a picture of Nasser up instead?

[–] Commiejones@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 3 months ago

Because they don't want to get disappeared. Egypt is fucked. sisi read the lies about Stalin and said "Oh lets do that" and now there are tens of thousands of people disappeared over the last decade.

[–] SlayGuevara@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 3 months ago

Picked up a book by Chinese author Yu Hua, called City of Fiction. It's set in the time of the cultural revolution. You don't see many Chinese authors in the book stores here, so I was intrigued.

Sadly I did have to Google his name to see if he wasn't one of those anti China western bootlicker people but he seems okay. Curious to see what a Chinese fiction is like.

🇧🇾🤝🇻🇪Venezuela and Belarus, brother nations!

Today, on the front page of the state newspaper Minskaya Pravda📰🇧🇾, an interview I conducted with Franklin Ramírez, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Republic of Belarus, was published.

Some protest today in The Hague by the Dutch right (so basically everyone) against migration. Lots of football hooligans firms present. Also probably all of them since there is no left wing club sadly.

Since I'm active on football ultras pages as I used to be active in that scene, I am now spending my day arguing with hooligans online.
