Off and away out of town again for the birthday of an old family friend. Not sure of the wisdom of being in Brisbane on the same day as the Lions in the final AND the Broncos playing a home semi in the NRL .... At least I am getting really good at this travel malarkey again. I used to travel a lot in an old job but I had gotten rusty.

Bon voyage 😸

In 2016 I went to the Grand Final. My team was playing for the first time in the GF since I’d been alive but I wasn’t a member, basically impossible for general public to get a ticket. I saw a ticket advertised for sale at like 1pm on the day on a fan group on Facebook. It was about 20% more than the cost price. In hindsight, most people probably thought it was a fake but it was a physical ticket and paying in person outside the MCG, I thought that seemed safe. Got to my seat around midway through the first quarter, so missed all the pre-game stuff. But then my team won and it was just such an incredible atmosphere and great day. I won’t forget it.

The ballet has been watched and the hot pot meal devoured. May have had a bit much spicy for my tum, but we'll see! All round an excellent day and traffic was EXCELLENT. Getting and out of the city was just about the easiest run I've had!

Had a bit of unfun morning with headache and upset gut. Seems to have mostly resolved now which is nice. I’m planning to refresh a couple of pots around the deck with some punnets of flower seedlings. A load of washing or two and then a lazy afternoon.

Fed, fat and happy!

Nap time then make some plans.

Road trip day! And breaking out the glam tent. Hope it hasn't gone funky since it's last excursion.

Productive and relaxing day.

Grocery shopping and house cleaning done.

Quick nap, good Japanese restaurant for dinner

Few drinks, few puffs and the new Fantastic 4 movie at home with the family.

Seeing my wife and kids snuggled under blankets across the couches, fills me with immense joy.

Kids are almost adults but they'll always be my babies.

I swear to god with these regional cafes. I don't think I've ever paid for an eggs Benedict where it was just served on regular white toast

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 3 months ago

They are anxious to be as trendy as the city.

Channel 7 doesn't support my DisplayPort cable.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Do you have a newer HDMI cable? If you do try that.

I'm up.

I've had my porridge with oat milk

generally I'm still trying foods to see if I can eat them

I'm good with home made food, I make my old recipes with adaptations and they often turn out just as delicious

but sadly much pre-made food is just no go, including chocolate

gummy sweets are still good but I should eat far less

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 5 points 3 months ago (4 children)

? There loads of no dairy choc available or is something else playing up?

Happy football day to those that celebrate 🙏

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 7 points 3 months ago
[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 7 points 3 months ago

I shall partake in the celebrations with party pies, little boys and a beer or two.

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 4 points 3 months ago

I don’t care what the occasion is, I’ll take a long weekend even it’s to celebrate underwater basket weaving. But good luck to those whose teams are playing today!

Exciting game! All tied up at half time. Go Cats! 😻

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 5 points 3 months ago

It was so close for so long I suspect some Lions players may have bet on themselves

It’s been 3 days since the antibiotic shot and Melbcat is still sore :( I’ve given her medicine and cuddles which seem to have helped. The vet says to call back Monday if she’s not feeling better.

I’m still fighting urges to kidnap the black cat. I do think he’s possibly someone’s neglected free range pet though, as there was a parted line in his neck fur where a collar used to be and his fur wasn’t patchy or sparse (as happens when a cat is very malnourished).

I’m hoping that the weird protrusion I felt in his upper back that made me worry about his spine was a microchip. 🤞 I’ll be watching him and trying to get a better look over to see if he stays healthy or something indicates he does need help.

If I could know for sure that he isn’t receiving flea and worm medication at home (unlikely to be happening) I could possibly try to dab him with one of Melbcat’s spot ons. They look to be similar weights. I have to be careful not to get attacked though.

For large cats like him and her the tube has a lot more liquid than standard, so needs to be put on in a few different spots or it dribbles off. This takes longer and requires more handling, and some cats do react violently to the application.

Also if he’s constantly outside eating rats and birds and rolling in the dirt, I wonder if he’d just quickly get reinfested.

spoilerFlying Spaghetti Monster help me if he belongs to the crazy arsehole neighbour and I’m forced to intervene 🫩

Home from the beach, it was really lovely down there. A bit windy so I put my hair in a pony tail and it was warm in the sun.

Took a nice pic of the city, found some nice shells and saw a flock of small sea birds that I hadn't seen before. As small as sparrows and so cute. I think they were Wood Sandpipers.

I'm not sure if you can see the birds in this photo, they really were very small. They are on the sand.

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Easy to spot if you look hard enough. Very well camouflaged.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

I see them now!!

[–] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 5 points 3 months ago (3 children)

So today I managed 11,522 steps and most of that was done while watching the TV. I was determined to not sit idle so I grabbed some small hand weights and did some of the step exercises from the routines I've done that I don't mind. I basically did that on and off all day, whenever I was in the lounge room and while watching the Grand Final. My kids are used to me doing odd things so they didn't think anything of it lol. Also I don't really want to become a calorie counter but I'm starting to learn how much exercise it takes to burn the kilojoules and it makes me more conscious of whether I'll have that lamington/licorice allsorts or not. My clothes are starting to fit differently and I'm really pumped for that!
