A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

I'm guessing you mean the sulfur smell, that's never wanted.

Unless you're specifically looking for sulfur pools in which case it means you're near :)

I don't eat eggs so I add kala namak to scrambles to get some sulfur smell in

Oh that's grim :(

I've definitely been put off coleslaw after a spoiled portion at a Topgolf place gave me food poisoning

Not so pleasant a few hours later tho', amirite?

Cheese too. If the smell is on its own, its like dirty socks, but if it's a dairy product it goes for $8lb.

One of these

In the UK at least, the filling is called egg mayonnaise. In the US/Canada it seems to be called egg salad

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Tbf there being lettuce in there is somewhat unconventional in the UK

If there's any greenery it's often cress

Though that's now an egg & cress rather than an egg mayo

[–] OmegaMouse@pawb.social 5 points 4 months ago

That's a good point actually... whenever you see them in any UK supermarket it tends to just be egg mayo by itself (and always on brown bread for some reason). Or egg & cress like you say.

OR you might see an all day breakfast sandwich with egg mayo, sausage and bacon.

Egg salad makes me want to hurl. More for you lot though. Lol

The taste, and/or something about the other senses experience/mouth feel?

I'll take yours. What about Tuna Salad?

[–] JigglySackles@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Everything about it really. The texture, the weird spot between firm and soft, the way it's scent pervades my sinuses and coats my tongue where I can't get it off. Not a big fan of egg, especially strong egg flavors or runny egg. Don't care for mayo either. So mixing them together is just a match made in hell for me.

Tuna salad is really spotty for me too. Mostly comes down to whether there is anything besides the tuna and mayo, how much mayo, and whether it was seasoned. Really like tuna on the whole though. Also if making a sandwich with it, it's gotta be toasted. Lol I'm not super picky normally, but this is one of my few areas where I come across as a bit of a child.

[–] BurgerBaron@piefed.social 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I thought for sure it'd be an absolute no for tuna salad haha. We probably all get picky about something. It's odd stuff like this or strong tasting and/or stinky foods or treats don't bother me at all, but I'm picky with vegetables. If any veggie even begins to wilt well before rotting I can't handle eating it.

[–] JigglySackles@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I can't deal wifh wilty greens either. Lol especially in something like a Ceasar salad. The way it feels really slimey in my mouth and going down just makes me gag. Makes me shudder even thinking about it lol

[–] BurgerBaron@piefed.social 2 points 4 months ago

especially in something like a Caesar salad

🥶 You nailed it, absolutely vile.

I prefer a smoked roe spread in my egg sandwiches. Gives them a tasty saltyness that matches very well with the eggs. Not sure what mayonnaise would add flavour wise. Wouldn't it be mostly egg with egg?
