Or I'm just hallucinating? It feels like engaging in a blog post like 12 years ago, there is no brain rot, no dismissing of others opinions and overall the atmosphere is so much nicer than in reddit or youtube. I also feel like there is a stronger social connection here, perhaps because we are not massive and people take their time to elaborate a response. Anyways I'm so grateful a space like this still exists

For everyone that likes how lemmygrad feels, be sure to do your best to keep it that way!! Culture can only be cultivated if everyone participates in it.

Fully agree. I feel like this should be its own post.

Sidenote: How about we build the grad up as a sort of international ml meeting hub with more events? We could watch something together or hold votes to help people understand how the soviets worked for example. Just ideas but i feel like the grad would profit from classic ml things like a 5 year plan, etc.

i feel like lemmy is the internet as it should have been before it got corporatized

although imo we should start introducing custom html in profiles

Yeah I think it's just the removal of the profit motive you're feeling OP, and I agree.

yeah federation and fediverses attempt to bring back this sorta controlled cultural space while still being connected to the broader culture
