A place for optimism, relentless positivity, anti-doomerism, and snuggle sessions.

We're all in this together, and a better world is possible!

This is now also a space for organizing tips for our collective survival as we confront climate change and everything else. Still no doom-posting. We're here to work together, support each other, and boldly face the future.

Rules:

  1. Familiarize yourself with the site-wide Code of Conduct

  2. No doom, no gloom, only bloom. There's plenty of room for doomerism elsewhere. This community is solely for having a positive outlook on the future and spreading good vibes.

  3. Be kind to your fellow users. This also means no arguing in the comm. Arguments and negativity are not conducive to blooming. Constructive discussion is good. No interest-policing. Support your comrades in their joy!

  4. Always share good news. We can't exactly enforce this one, but if you have good news, please share it with us! Keeping happiness and positivity to yourself is the twelfth type of liberalism.

Had a nice wholesome Halloween moment while out sicko-biker in a simple costume. Felt nice to be out for a bit in some cooler weather. I got to see some native wildlife including a skunk and two raccoons and a lot of deer.

I'm seeing some friends for dinner. Kinda sad because this one friend wasn't able to extend her stay (second year of a working holiday, trying to find a work sponsor or a course she could take), but we'll get to hear about her trip to Uluru.

I'm working on a project for a local food pantry. Feels nice to dust off some of my tools

We had a lovely Halloween, we took the smaller kids trick or treating in a part of town where people really put stone effort into it. Our oldest kid went to a party with her girlfriend, they had a nice time and by all accounts.

To make things even better, we were dog sitting and the dog, who is usually afraid of men, seems to like me.

Halloween seems to me like one of those things that showed how, if left to their own devices, people instinctively get the value of community. There's nothing in liberal economics that explains what makes people spend a small fortune and significant time and effort to turn their garden into a spooky ghost house for local kids.

the pumpkins that we carved became some sort of offering to the squirrels cause they all keep checking them out and gnawing on them catgirl-happy

Had a wee surgery thing done this week and it went very well, is healing very well and fixed what it was supposed to fix. I was treated very well and it was 100% a positive experience, something I am definitely not used to. The prodecure itself was also very cool and interesting in a sciency sort of way.

Also I got two days of paid sick leave because of it and spent them walking outside and baking. Had the best time in the very misty, dark and rainy (spooky looking) park, it has been totally deserted the last few days because of the rain. Enjoyed my new gore-tex sneakers so much, this is a luxury I've never before been able to afford. Walking in the rain with dry warm feet, absolutely glorious.

Still enjoying the hour longer sleeps as well, I am far less tired and irritated now that it's winter time.

Edit. Oh and we got several visits by very cute little trick or treat monsters this year (although Halloween still isn't much of a thing here). Thankfully I had a bag of candy around that I had forgotten about.
