And it has no water and is sinking into the sea. Splendid.

Link is virtually unreadable due to all the ads.

Good opportunity to install an adblocker then. I personally couldn't stand browsing the web without one.

also the firefox reader mode helps a lot

How are you on the Internet without an ad blocker?

[–] yardratianSoma@lemmy.ca 3 points 4 weeks ago

seriously, first thing I do when I install a fresh OS is download a preferred browser, and add an ad-blocker extension ASAP.

If you're on a phone or tablet pi-hole will do network wide ad block.

Also Firefox on mobile has ublock that works well.

You must have ZERO ad-blocking or filtering going on. It appears to be a very minimalist and readable website - to my eyes.

TFW you put so many ads on your site it becomes "very minimalist" when they're removed, LOL

Wow, Jakarta's population is huge! It's crazy to think that Dhaka will become the largest city by 2050, and Tokyo's population is projected to decline. Have you heard about the Pearl River Delta region? Almost 86 million people live there, making it more populated than Germany or the UK. Crazy to think about how fast the world is changing!

When I was a kid there was 3.7B people and 74% of the animal population has disappeared.

Wow, Jakarta just blew Tokyo out of the water! I had no idea it was that big. The rest of Asia is really dominating the top spots too. Can't wait to see how things will change by 2050.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

No matter what, I won't be around for the worst of it, but by 2050 I think population growth will stall across the board, with some countries well into depopulation. Hopefully Japan leads the way in learning how to navigate negative population growth without economic doom.

Looks like the world's most polluted city to me based on that image

Many cities look like that. You can see an air quality ranking here [1]. Jakarta is currently ranked 43. During wildfire season many Canadian cities top the lists.

Wonder how much sooner this would have happened if not for Suharto and the CIA.
