Some attendees at Donald Trump’s speech about the autoworkers’ strike Wednesday apparently were shills carrying signs falsely identifying them as union members, the Detroit News reported.

One person held a sign that said “union members for Trump,” but admitted to the newspaper she was not a union member. Another carried a placard with the words “auto workers for Trump” and confessed he was not an auto worker when the outlet requested an interview. Neither identified themselves.

The affiliations of the guests receiving his message came into question. The business, Drake Enterprises in suburban Detroit, employs about 150 people who are not represented by the UAW, the newspaper noted. And there were an estimated 400 to 500 in attendance.

About 500 people were in attendance for around 2 hours. Trump reportedly pays $9 an hour for people to attend his rallies, that means he (or, more accurately, his campaign) could pay $9,000 to fill that room and make it look like UAW members support Trump. Very low price for a campaign to cover.

You know those actors that go to Trump rally’s really underestimate the value they are providing to Trump. Perhaps if they organized and bargained collectively they could get higher wages and or benefits.

🍋 And a Lemmy Award for you.

Pretty sure he went to one of the few non union plants to do this too...

If he'd have tried it in a union shop, they'd likely have shown up to yell shit at him.

No, these are those crisis actors that republicans are always complaining about. Everyone on the left was like, “what the fuck are you talking about,” because they came up with the idea.

[-] winterayars@sh.itjust.works 3 points 9 months ago

They've always been doing this shit and they just think everyone else is, too. That's how we got W. See: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brooks_Brothers_riot

Looking at the link to the source article, they have a quote from donald duck: "You can be loyal to American labor or you can be loyal to the environmental lunatics," Trump said at one point. "But you can’t really be loyal to both. It’s one or the other."

The man is a miserable piece of shit constantly spreading misinformation and anti-innovative/anti-American rhetoric for the sole purpose of angering his uneducated, gullible supporters. The longer he stays out of prison, the more crimes he commits.

Imagine that, someone who committed fraud is committing more fraud.

[-] Eldritch@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago

I know right? It's the biggest no shit headline I've seen in some time. Trump, a life long professional fraud. Attended an event attended by frauds? You don't say.

[-] Rapidcreek@reddthat.com 44 points 9 months ago

who could have predicted that the con-man hosting an event at a non-union shop to show support for the union would have fake union members in attendance?

[-] Jackolantern@lemmy.world 27 points 9 months ago

Seems par for the course

[-] meldroc@lemmy.world 22 points 9 months ago

I’d celebrate “trump drowned in his own piss day” with my whole family. It’d probably be a real boost to economy too, everyone buying hot dogs and lighter fluid and stuff.

[-] Rocketpoweredgorilla@lemmy.ca 9 points 9 months ago

Fake it until you make it... or in trump's case, just keep faking it.
