The man shot by ~~federal agents~~ domestic terrorists

[–] itisileclerk@lemmy.world 5 points 9 hours ago

I hope americans didn't beleive that only one fatal shooting was possible. Unfortunatly there will be more. When dictators made the first shot, it is easier for them to do it again. Dictators by designcannot feel remorse, say sorry, correct themself. It is funny but USA managed to controll our dictator and he didn't fire any shoots to protesters.

We all may feel some impulse to act, even violently, but have a great feeling of uncertainty because there are no leaders. We need direction based off of game theory, or something. We need strategies that are surgical, because be real — we are outgunned. Yes, there are gun owners on the left, but come on, you know who has the lion’s share. Not only that, but we are different in that we hesitate to harm, because it’s the last thing we want. My dad kills animals for pleasure, but I do not. Also, if you aren’t armed now, you better do so immediately, because the gun nuts are not going to blink an eye when we are inevitably denied access.

We need real strategy. Daggers in a select few hearts may be enough to shift things.

Are there organizations or groups that do this? They would have to do it in secret, so how could we know? So it seems we’d have to assume we couldn’t know and form our own? Honestly, please clue me in!

[–] cheesybuddha@lemmy.world 18 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Just gonna float the idea out there that you should assume that everything you do online or via a cell phone can be and is being watched. For all those privacy minded folks out there, take a hint from Goodfellas and don't ever talk over the phone about anything you want to keep private (unless you can find a payphone, I guess). That goes doubly so for internet forums.

[–] TerdFerguson@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Bro, you gotta lock your phone in a farraday box and put it in the laundry room if you wanna get real.

Dont talk around these things, figure out how to limit your contact with them.

[–] BillyB0nes@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

You should not talk around anything really. Phones don't stop recording you just because you put it in a farraday cage....it holds temporary files and uploads them once it's back online. This goes for Tv's, doorbell cams, your gaming systems, your kid's playpad, a lot of modern cars,....all of it was leveraged to record your behavior and it never stops doing it.

[–] TerdFerguson@lemmy.world 1 points 56 minutes ago

Yeah, exactly. Thats why my phone is in the laundry room as well as in the farraday cage. My TV is not on the network, and all devices are dumb or Linux.

I suppose my PS5 controller is a risk though. Oh well, maybe Im not perfect.

the old guard dnc pretty much sided with the gop with respect to ice, and likely future rulings. you wont be able to respond to violence by facist with "peaceful protests" and Passive-do nothing that tim Walz wants.

[–] Guitarfun@lemmy.world 4 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago) (1 children)

I've been saying this for years. We need a Jesus or MLK like character to come in and lead. The majority of people on both the right and left agree on pretty much everything. It's the talking heads that divide us. I've worked in blue collar and white collar environments and I've gotten along with everyone, even though some blue collar people have very backwards beliefs. They aren't actually bad people, they're just extremely gullible.

There are millions of people ready to act on both sides they just need someone to inspire them. We need someone who can unite both sides against the true enemy. Until we have someone who can speak on all levels and inspire both the left and the right we are fucked.

Another problem is that people that are naturally talented or charismatic or driven are called tryhards. We berate talented people and we bring them down to our level. I've seen it happen so many times. There's a reason we don't see inspirational and awe-inspiring people as often as we used to. Unless the person is born in an upper class family and grew up very privileged, there's very little chance we'll find someone charismatic and talented enough to lead.

[–] itistime@infosec.pub 2 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

There are millions of his base that are victims of bad associations. People who would be more decent, if it weren’t for the natural pressure to conform to social groups for belonging. Most of these people don’t go to church to find the “truth” of the universe, but rather to socialize. They want human connection like everyone. In many rural areas, there are no secrets, so others know if you’re not “clicking” with them. Now take this tight-knit group who shares many identity traits, and mix in propaganda that plays the field well. Now you have a captive group. Anyone within the group will be ostracized if they’re not in lockstep. We must understand the gravity of it. They lose their complete social world, and are left alone in the boonies. I’m not sure how the situation can be helped, other than stopping the flow of lies showered onto them. How, at this point? I don’t know.

Bernie Sanders was a figure to unite us at a pivotal point in our history. There are many rural reds who supported Bernie. We missed that opportunity. Too many “white moderate” types were too dense/selfish to recognize the moment. Instead, we went for the status quo, who eventually revealed herself as a genocide denier type. Next chance to go for change, we install the status quo again, and he was incompetent in dealing with reality. He couldn’t make out the writing on wall.

I haven’t observed, or maybe recognized, what you mean by us pulling down rising leaders; who and how?

[–] Avicenna@programming.dev 2 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (1 children)

I don't think they were white moderates. Just selifish people who supported the status quo because their "sponsors" have asked them to do so if they wanted to stay in their seats. So just people trying to cling to their power and influence.

[–] itistime@infosec.pub 3 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

That is what I mean. The “white moderates” that MLK wrote about. Folks who agree with a movement’s goals, but ultimately fail it out of their own selfish reasons for keeping the status quo.

[–] Avicenna@programming.dev 2 points 8 hours ago

I believe they would have no qualms about joining the republican party and agreeing with their goals if that was the only way to keep their seats. They might feel a tad closer to the democratic party but more in the sense of "I prefer wine over beer".

[–] Guitarfun@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago) (1 children)

I agree, I grew up in a red state. Most of my family are republicans and I went to church regularly until I was about 13. You're exactly right. Churches bring people together. It's very much an opportunity to socialize for many people. I grew reading and studying a lot and it didn't take long for me to see through the bullshit. I know that most republicans are decent people, they're just afraid of anything different from them and that fear is used to manipulate and control them. Unfortunately, the only way for them to break free is to study and embrace what their afraid of. They have to get out and meet the people that fox news and other influences tell them to fear. There's really no other way and unfortunately Republicans tend to not travel at all. They rarely leave their safe space.

Bernie Sanders would have been an amazing president. We really fucked up not electing him. Not like we were even given a chance though.

As for what I mean by not supporting future leaders, you might have had a very different life than I have. What I've seen is that people are petty, jealous, selfish, and extremely unsupportive. I grew up very poor so I've always been around poverty, anger, and sadness. I can honestly say I've only ever met 1 really decent person and she unfortunately died of cancer not long ago. I've hardly ever seen people support each other or hold each other up. Instead I usually see the opposite of that. If someone starts to shine too brightly they get knocked down by family, friends, partners, and others. I've lived all over the US and I see it everywhere I go. Like I said, the only people who would have a chance are people who are well off and grew up in a supportive household and have a lot of connections and from what I've seen, that is very uncommon for most people.

This all happened in one year. This isn't going to deescalate.

Before the 2024 election Mary Trump said that if he got reelected the American experiment would be over, and that prediction's not looking good at this point.

[–] madde@feddit.org 30 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago) (7 children)

I've found this to be a fairly comprehensive review of the available videos. Conclusions appear reasonable. https://resistmap.substack.com/p/they-took-his-gun-then-they-shot

[–] blueberry_793@lemmings.world 25 points 23 hours ago

You can remove the (tracking) part in the URL after the question mark, like so https://resistmap.substack.com/p/they-took-his-gun-then-they-shot

It seems like they murdered him because he was a gun owner legally exercising his first amendment rights.

Appears? They fucking mag dumped into his limp corpse.

(Yelling at whoever wrote the article title)

[–] postcapitalism@lemmy.today 8 points 18 hours ago

If the Democrats running the states were serious about protecting their constituents they would bring murder and state-level RICO charges against the appropriate members of ICE.

But all I hear is a hollow “please don’t do this”

Fuck this two party, techno-fascist enabling system.

People need to stand up to protect themselves - no one else is in these situations

[–] cheesybuddha@lemmy.world 8 points 18 hours ago (3 children)

If a video appears to show something then it shows something, right? Am I crazy? If a video shows something then it automatically appears to show it, right?

Am I talking nonsense, or is this just another case of the media sanewashing what is obviously a fascist crackdown on the citizenry?

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 6 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago) (1 children)

Sometimes there's room for doubt about what a video shows, because it's unclear. Sometimes there's ambiguity because context is relevant and not present in the video. But this video is clear and no context could possibly redeem what we see. This is a gang of terrorist thugs once again murdering an innocent and peaceful person in broad daylight, as part of the Nazi regimes goal of crushing the American people into submission through terror.

[–] bastion@feddit.nl 3 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Yes.. There's reason for this language.. "appears to," "alleged criminal," etc.

..but as you say, there's no need for that language here. There is no ambiguity.

[–] Lifter@discuss.tchncs.de 0 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

Good journalists cross-check more than one source before concluding anything. Have they spoken to any witnesses? Is the video fake?

I think it's a good thing that the languagr is weak because there aren't any more evidence (yet).

[–] cheesybuddha@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

multiple videos and multiple eye witness accounts corroborate the events

[–] bastion@feddit.nl 1 points 4 hours ago

There are quite a few videos from different perspectives of the same incident. I do not think that weak language is warranted.

Perhaps it was at the time of posting, but it's clear in the video that at least one of Ice clearly fucked up.

I just keep watching these videos and thinking about how insane it is that a life was taken so quickly. I know that is the nature of the world, and things can change in an instant. But it seems so surreal to watch.

Renee Good was smiling at a man and deescalating a situation, that was the last thing she knew before a bullet. Now Alex Pretti was defending a woman from being shoved to the ground and before that woman could even steady herself again he was beaten and killed.

Fuck, it's so pathetic that these losers have that kind of power over life. Trump, Noem, and Bovino (and every other rat bastard in the administration) have given the unhinged bullies a license to kill. I look forward to the day that these assholes hang for their crimes. Tell the people you care about that you love them.

[–] cheesybuddha@lemmy.world 5 points 18 hours ago

They only have that kind of power over life because they claim it. They, and most other people, don't realize how fragile their position actually is, should others seek the same.

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 143 points 1 day ago (14 children)

If people start ambushing and wiping out ICE teams, my reaction is going to be “about fucking time”

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 7 points 18 hours ago

trumps was going to "incite inssurection act" regardless of outcome, hes just buying time so his dumb supporters dont suddenly joinag against them. As if midterms are going to save the dems anyways, they already sided with the gop on many things, and NEWSOM IS UNLIKELY TO SHAKE UP THE STATUS quo as well.

[–] Earthman_Jim@lemmy.zip 65 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (9 children)

A lot of them don't wear radios. If they get separated they're screwed.

If ICE agents started disappearing you'd get a lot fewer volunteers. Bovino's outside in range of so many buildings pretty often. Would just take a dedicated few to send a message.

What they want for their civil war is a character they can point to as a central villain to polarize "the enemy" around; if agents get picked off and no one gets caught, they don't have the character they need for the story they want to tell.

And honestly, if you're against what I'm saying, consider that the only way the cops will arrest the murderers from this afternoon is if they fear retribution. Have the cops arrest those ice agents for the "safety" of those ice agents.

Good luck

Reddit passes out warnings and bans at the slightest hint of me “approving of violence,” even when I upvote something as small as saying “hey maybe arrest the men who execute innocent people,” so uhhhh, I’ll just say that here.

We should imprison all ICE agents. And if they were to go missing and/or die, I would not lose a wink of sleep.

seriously, where the fuck are the cops that are supposed to be protecting the community from this?

[–] PolarKraken@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 22 hours ago

Uvalde showed us all what cops are. Nothing else needs to be learned or said about police, that disgusting event told us every single thing worth knowing.
