Can we just all please agree that caging little children is abhorrent and anyone even suggesting to do so should be caged themselves for a month just for the suggestion? You know, teach some empathy while we're at it?

Apparently a judge denied them the option to leave because they're not rich enough.

That judge should be caged for a year.

I don't give a shit about your reasoning, I don't care about your fucking arguments. You cage kids and as far as I'm concerned you're lucky if we'd cage you instead and not string you up from the highest tree.

What normal civilized people would do is hold families that really really need to be detained for whatever reason in a specia facility where as far as kids are concerned, its a nice summer camp away from home. Still not ideal, but at least civilized.

Fuck these people, fuck all people who think this is normal or okay, and sorry, not sorry, fuck Americans to see this and just allow it.

This. THIS. Jailing kids should have been more than enough reason to paralyze the country with protests but how many Americans did something to stop this? Fuck you, America, and fuck you Americans, you disgust me.

(Obligatory not all Americans, there are some good ones, yadda yadda I don't give a shit your country is fucking children up and you allowed a literal child fucker to be your president, it's on you)

Sorry for the rant but this one really irked me the wrong way

I believe that family also has an 18 year old sibling detainee but separated from the their siblings

let's just remember that kids are in cages since at least 2016 and we had a dem administration in between.

I'm Hispanic, I grew up in an immigrant neighborhood, this situation is a nightmare, and every president we've had has made it worse since Clinton, but pointing out the Democrats will gladly continue Trump's immigration policy to appear "strong on immigration" to me is highly counterproductive. people are mad right now about immigration policy, people want change. telling them any Democrat that runs is going to be the same when we don't know who that person is or what policy they have written down as a plan of action, it's just telling people to be more hopeless, and not be mad or demand change. No voting Democrat won't fix immigration, but voting republican will always make it magnitudes worse, and people finally seeing what policy is like and being strongly against it is the only way to get a political party to actually openly be pro immigration for once in my entire life.

telling them any Democrat that runs is going to be the same

No, not the same. Any Democrat will make things even worse than they are now. The speed of worsening will just be slower than under Trump. Vote for them if you want, sure, but don't lie to people. False hope in the Democrats is what really kills any hope for the revolutionary change that is so badly needed and that is the only thing that can save us (I mean the whole world, not just the US).

"False hope in the Democrats is what really kills any hope for the revolutionary change"

thats like, your opinion. meanwhile people are being killed and countries taken over.

[–] orc_princess@lemmy.ml 4 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Their point is that those things happen under Democrats too, like Obama destroying Libya and authorizing bombing civilians in countries the US wasn't at war with, or Biden supporting the extermination of Palestinians, not to mention the hundreds of thousands killed by sanctions they supported. The US being evil abroad is bipartisan.

its just so frustrating to hear my peers saying that feckless ineffective attempts to stop doom is the same as full throated doom. makes me feel crazy that more of my comrades dont discuss or abide by a harm reduction approach. we cant let perfection be the enemy of our own goals.

[–] orc_princess@lemmy.ml 2 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

I understand, I'm not against harm reduction personally but we can only stop this if we go beyond voting

[–] texture@lemmy.world 0 points 16 hours ago

id rather you be for it than just "not against" it. ;)

anyway, glad we understand each other

Until ICE, Republicans, Trump supporters, etc fear for their lives - nothing will change.

Let's organize.

I like that they're trying to all fly away, far far away.

This is the worst timeline.
