Oh yeah, diagnosing and fixing electronics is really easy (and fun) for me, and I do it as a day job. I lag behind "easy" adult tasks all the time though, like making appointments, following them, etc. And/or I do them with great anxiety. I don't feel apt to be an adult in our society...

Yeah I’ve been getting shit my entire life for the fact that things like making a phone call or responding to a text message are insurmountable tasks for me, but I can tell you exactly what’s wrong with your car’s engine just by listening to it for a minute or two…

In university, I was offered a significant amount of assistance with all the things that I'd been helping others with.
They were completely unable to assist in any way with any of the tasks I couldn't do.

It takes me forever to write just a simple email, but if I have a task related to one of my special interests (plants and tech) I can easily and quickly get it done. There are also certain tasks that are seemingly boring to others that are engaging to me (usually it's stuff that's repetitive).

The guy with autism i know pretty well, cant figure out how to do anything
