Yeah so here's a piece of advice:

Dont increase your protein intake to the point where it accidentally becomes your only fuel source.

Ask me how I know :(

Carbs make you happy. Had gestational diabetes some years ago. Went very low carb to control sugars. Was very cranky bitch for the entire pregnancy.

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 6 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah I have to say, I'm prone to the occasional low mood, but I don't think I've ever been as angry and tired as I have the last few days. Lesson learned

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 5 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

No carb intake puts you into 'Keto-flu'. You feel absolutely foul and run down for a several days. It gets better but absolutely sucks.

Protein toxicity:

Extreme mood issues

Fatigue

Nausea

Etc

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh yeah. You need those carbs and fats too. Look after yourself mate.

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 5 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Cheers :)

Just smashed half a kilo of frozen chips from the air fryer and I'm still hungry lol

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 5 points 4 weeks ago

Try some avocado on wholemeal toast. Good fats, carbs, and surprisingly avocado has lots of fibre in it so you get a good dose of that too. Follow up with a piece of fruit, because you don’t want scurvy either!

Got some good news regarding my car but there's still a month for which the rug could be pulled. Crossing fingers and toes!! Here's to another month with Moaning Myrtle and then a new red zoomie car.

2032 Brisbane Olympic venue for rowing is apparently going to be the Fitzroy River. Which is full of crocodiles. Should guarantee some new world speed records.

Sumfin stole all me apricots this year so built a ghetto golf driving net w/ the netting and some pvc:

Not sure how long it'll stay upright but so far so good (and freeeee).

Kiss from a rose is a normal song, but it's so weird how it git included in the Batman Forever soundtrack. The music video is Seal walking around a rooftop in an open shirt with the bat signal behind it.

I need to do some reading if there's anything out there about it, because why is it a batman song?

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 6 points 4 weeks ago

Whilst not fighting crime batman was a rosarian.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 4 points 4 weeks ago

needed a love song

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 4 points 4 weeks ago

Seal was in line to play a villain in the movie, but the writers/directors/producers couldn't find a way to fit him into it. Since he had a contract, the parties agreed that one of his songs would be the main feature on the soundtrack. He had the song recorded for another album, but this would have given him more exposure. So they shot the video as Batman themed, and I'm completely making this shit up.

mental health and sleepMy sleep has been fragmented ever since Saturday's meeting. I'm trying not to read into it too much and not beat myself up for being silly after one date. It's really easy for me to feel something off in my body and wonder if it means something is wrong. Of course my brain is catastrophising, telling me that I'm in a lose-lose situation that's going to end badly and I should run before I get hurt. I might actually go for a run today. It's about time I start, it's been a goal for ages.

I spent a lot of time in the past ignoring when my body telling me something was off. I think I'm scared of doing that again. Just because I feel a certain way, doesn't mean things are that way.

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 6 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Still wrecked. All that's different is that I had a couple of hard gym sessions Friday and Saturday.

Went for a walk around the block this morning to feed the cats and by the time I got back I was fucked.

Annoying.

Check yo iron levels. They've been repurposing that mountain of covid casettes for things like FE tests and fun stuff so you can get a basic normal / abnormal test at the chemist cheap as

It's time to throw out my frypan. Shit went down hill when YL tried to recreate a butter chicken dish using frozen crumbed chicken tenders. It hasn't been the same since.

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 5 points 4 weeks ago

Don't touch hexclad. I made that mistake and ditched the pan after just a couple of uses. EVERYTHING sticks to it and it's a bugger to clean. Don't believe the advertising.

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 4 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

A+ for innovation...but umm...yeah

Any idea on what kind you're buying next?

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

Coles have a promo right now. I looked at the frypan and it looks alright to me. I believe it's Kitchenaid.

I look for 3 things. Light weight, easy to clean and non stick.

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 5 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Nagi from Recipetineats swear by this one

We're grabbing one on our next IKEA outing

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 4 weeks ago

Looks alright. Oven safe. Beautiful.

I have an Ikea wok that's not bad.

[–] phant@lemmy.world 4 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Welp, wouldn't recommend you Solidteknics, but I love mine. Heavy and similar to looking after cast iron. And not cheap upfront. Hoping they'll outlast me tho.

For non-stick I have a tefal one and a esteele one. The esteele I like much better. When the tefal carks it I’ll replace with esteele. More expensive but they regularly go on sale at Myer or DJs.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Tefal is what I normally buy. I buy when they're half price at Coles. They last about 5 - 6 years for me.

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 4 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

I reckon they’re about the same non-stickness, but the esteele has thicker base and heats more evenly, and holds the heat better. The non stick coating seems more robust. Can’t say about durability, I have had it only a couple of years but so far is holding up very well.

Today felt like an autumn morning. I know we're not there yet, and tomorrow's gonna be warm...but definitely has that crisp autumn feel.

[–] tone212_@aussie.zone 4 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I saw a tree (a single tree) changing colour too, this with the gloomy cloud and cool added to the autumn vibes.

got a decent look at the small squeaky beast that's been investigating my compost heap and look. I've had pet mice and I've had pet rats, and that thing actually looks like a dunnart!
