MUNICH (AP) — A top European Union official on Sunday rejected the notion that Europe faces “civilizational erasure,” pushing back at criticism of the continent by the Trump administration.

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas addressed the Munich Security Conference a day after U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio offered a somewhat reassuring message to European allies. He struck a less aggressive tone than Vice President JD Vance did in lecturing them at the same gathering last year but maintained a firm tone on Washington’s intent to reshape the trans-Atlantic alliance and push its policy priorities.

Kallas alluded to criticism in the U.S. national security strategy released in December, which asserted that economic stagnation in Europe “is eclipsed by the real and more stark prospect of civilizational erasure.” It suggested that Europe is being enfeebled by its immigration policies, declining birth rates, “censorship of free speech and suppression of political opposition” and a “loss of national identities and self-confidence.”

If Europe survived Napolean they'll survive a syphillitic dementia patient from a country that is less than a quarter of it's age.

sigh

One of Trump's fundamental-backers, either the Kremlin or Epstein, can't remember which,

identified that he consistently used the tactic of ACCUSING OTHERS OF WHAT HE WAS THE ONE DOING.

TRUMP is enforcing civilizational erasure!!

Everybody's paying attention to the "makeup", & ignoring the malevolent "boar" underneath!

Americans desperately trying to hold onto a past in the hope that nothing changes is so on brand.

They are busy fucking up their own civilization trying to "save" it.

The Nazis in the US Government are referring to the fictional "white genocide" or "great replacement". But the actual threat to European civilization is the USA funding fascist movements across the continent.

It’s always projection with the US…

"Civilizational erasure"

Europeans, you want to see erasure, come over here and drive through half the abandoned small towns in Oklahoma or Mississippi, where one rich asshole decided to move the business overseas and then the entire town fucking died. (I took the no tolls route to Dallas last year for a roller derby tournament, very eye opening.)

I hate these stupid, Nazi dog whistles, even more so when they're coming from a Cuban toadie that Donald's people would throw in a death camp in a second if they thought they could get away with it.

As a native of DFW I'm curious what you mean by this.

Clover Cup is an annual national roller derby tournament run by the Dallas Derby Devils every March. It's great fun. Go support them and enjoy some games. :)

I used to be a derby skater but now I announce and travel for tournaments sometimes.

That whole "civilizational erasure" quote was so vague, grand and threatening that it sounded just like it came straight out of kremlin. It's the kind of bullshit declaration russians love to make

[–] whotookkarl@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

The US and Russia are way more similar than either country is willing to admit

If only they'd get a room and leave the rest of us alone.

The "destruction of civilization" is what the US regime is pursuing: Not only is it doing everything in its power to reverse all civilizational progress in its own country, but it is led by an organge-colored rapist whose only ambition is to enrich himself and protect himself and his degenerate co-conspirators from prosecution for the most repulsive crimes imaginable.

A transatlantic alliance with such monsters, who are even openly threatening a war of aggression against Greenland because they can't think of anything better than such an idiotic bluff?

GTFO!
