1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of "discuss" rarely comply with this rule.

2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.

3. Avoid repetitive topics.

4. This is not a search engine
Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions or identify objects. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.

There are a number of content specific communities with subject matter experts who can help you.

Some other communities to consider before posting:

5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.

6. No hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.

7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with "So" - starting a post with pointless phrases, like "I hope this is allowed" or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

So every few years i like to go back and play the Jak and Daxter series because it's fun okay? And a couple years ago my tv had a whoopsie poopsie and I replaced it with the best damn tv three buttons and some pocket lint could get. And all it's got on the back of it are damn hdmi connectors and satan's coax. i got myself a nice cheap receiver a few years back i could plug everything else into and not worry, but the damn thing is not converting and refusing to convert Ye Olde Playstatione Twoe RCA Signale into Ye Newe Fangle Dangled HDMI Signale and i am not buying one more fucking piece of hardware to play a vidya game i have ownedd for two defuckingcades.

even my cat is worked up over this, it has nothing to do with the mean outside cat pissing in our yard this morning so even though nothing has changed, my playstation two has officially broken today and i guess i have to learn how to emulate that hardware on pc and not just my phone now godsdammit.

For Jak and Daxter there's OpenGOAL which is basically a native fan port of the games for PC. Last I checked the third game still had some issues but the others were pretty much perfect.

I just found out a out this a couple of days ago and it is amazing. The games look so good and are way more playable on my laptop with a native port than with an emulator. Trying to get the emulator to render was insanely hard with tonnes of characters having random black eyes or just not rendering their textures at all. The native port is beautiful and has so many improvements. Such a cool project.

What do you mean they haven't finished part 3 yet what language I gotta teach myself to vibe code to finish this

[–] turdas@suppo.fi 3 points 1 week ago

It's C++ and a bespoke Lisp language and AFAIK most of the remaining issues are graphics programming related, so good luck learning that.

Just get the PS2 to HDMI converter and be done with it for a few more decades.

Get behind me, satan

  1. Scotch broken PlayStation with some electrical tape on top a blank canvas and call it "_The problem with Western civilization".
  2. Put it in an art gallery and sell it for a million dollars.
  3. With the money, treat yourself with a working PlayStation, get some nice gift for your wife too. And don't forget my 15% commission.
  4. Say hi to your cat.

My pleasure ;)

I've been known to collect powercells on PCSX2. Ya know, when you're done pouting.

With texture replacements, emulating ps2 is really nice

I thus far have picked up six precursor orbs whilst and at the same time watching Twin Peaks and it was pretty great.

That reminds me of the chipped slim PS2 buried in my garage that I need to list on Facebook marketplace.
