Why would we bring supplies with us, when villages full of free provisions are all over the place?
I know this is a joke about the Mongols' well-known pillaging, but it might be interesting to know that pillaging for supplies was the major supply source of almost all pre-modern armies. The exceptional part of the Mongols' strategic mobility/logistical advantage comes from being able to transport all of those goods via horse (rather than foot or even cart), and by being able to keep a detachment of traditional nomads accompanying the army closely to maintain their herds of animals as a mobile food source. Very handy for resupply deep in enemy territory!
Villages are great. Food to eat, supplies to repair and replenish our own, even women to entertain!

If Ron Swanson is labeled “mongols” you don’t need to edit what the “permit” says. If you leave it as “I can do whatever I want” the joke is funnier.
Feels like the entire joke hinges on "not valid in Japan"
I mean they invaded, they didn't say anything about leaving

Ron really fucked up that barbecue.
Even if he were to slaughter the pig, which is fine, it takes a while to process and clean it and get the grill up to temperature.
So if he was doing a suckling pig it would have been hours before food was ready.
Which would have been fine if he had just indicated the approximate time when they would eat.
Eh, the Mongols were really just horsin' around.
