And ask him really noticable softball question, like what is your favorite color, or how many fingers is behind his back etc etc. Would that not be what the FCC is looking for in their equal time bullshit?

Equal time uses to mean more than that and it is likely that Trump's FCC would perform some form of retribution even if both candidates were on like you said.

This excuse gives Paramount the most cover politically.

I mean if you watched the televised broadcast you'd understand the reason.

It wasn't to simply broadcast the interview. It was to "defy" Trump and his cronie Carr who specifically targeted The Late Show with the equal time bullshit after historically being included in the exception about it without actually defying shit. Malicious compliance.
