This was a fatally violent hate crime, and the killer has been handed the most disgustingly light sentence. Justice is completely dead.
Hopefully, someone commits vehicular manslaughter on the Danby family. I'll have my fingers crossed.
You mean the attorney general’s family? Yeah…
But the family of the victim, known as Whitehurst for cultural reasons, have expressed their anger and sadness over the latest punishment.
I’m not Australian- does this indicate that the original family name was taken from them, the way that the last name X does?
In this case I don't think so. From Cultural sensitivity
In some Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, hearing recordings, seeing images or the names of deceased persons may cause sadness or distress and in some cases, offend against strongly held cultural prohibitions.
Thank you! I knew about images, but was not aware of names. I had never seen the phrase “known as _ for cultural reasons,” but that solves it.
I didn't know about it either but the writing suggested that that was the reason so I went looking for an answer and appeared to have found it.
