NEW YORK (AP) — New York City police are investigating after officers were pelted with snowballs while responding to a massive snowball fight at Washington Square Park in Manhattan.

A video of the fracas shows two uniformed officers pacing a walkway in the park Monday as snowballs fly at them from all directions, hitting the officers and covering them in snow.

The officers, growing visibly frustrated, shoved at least two people to the ground as snowballs continued to whizz by. At one point, a person runs up behind an officer and mushes some snow onto his head. One of the officers can be seen rubbing his eye toward the end of the video.

They didn’t disclose any information on additional injuries because “I got cowd and wet and I didn’t wike it!” isn’t actually an “injury.”

Why are NYPD such baby diapers? Can’t they toughen up and not always be such whiny bags of shit?

The police as a whole seem to be infiltrated with these conflationist retro-intellectuals. This 'baby-crying' is an attempt to double down on ignoring their institutions own self inflicted lack of respect. Through constant racism, extrajudicial murders, and rampant abuse of citizens exercising constitutionally protected rights. Cry about it nypd. Maybe in the future quit being fascist pigs? EARN respect, don't try to demand it.

You would think these snowflakes would be at home in a snowball fight.

Whoever called the cops to a friendly snow ball fight needs to be kicked in the groin. Hard.

Should have just joined in instead, you stupid donut eaters.

It's Washington Square Park, it's possible that nobody called them - cops are just normally around there.

The article says that they were responding to a call about a snowball fight.

[–] LePoisson@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

There's nothing in the article about a call though.

That's why I figured they probably were just walking their normal beat and ran across the snowball fight but hell if I know. It's just, there's so much shit going on all the time I doubt the NYPD would even dispatch cops to a call about a snowball fight.

Usually they just will be a part of it, it sounds like maybe there were some people being a little too aggressive or violent towards the cops but I mean also ACAB so maybe the cops are just being butthurt.

Honestly of all the places I've visited or lived I felt like the NYPD were the most professional and helpful cops. Which is pretty sad but the bar is real low.

Police: "we don't understand why the public hates us"

Reality:

Some of those snowballs should have had some rocks or pee in them.

Honestly this isn't super newsworthy. The crowd wasn't all that bad, and most of the cops handled it fine.

Here's the most complete recording of the event that I found:

I think it's newsworthy because crybaby pigs are launching an investigation because of a harmless snowball fight.

[–] Carrolade@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

Yeah, that's fair, an investigation is a little silly. Political points to be gained I suppose.
