That's why I so hated the "Generation X" thing. It was so obviously about a tiny group of trust fund babies in the northeast. When I watched Fight Club I couldn't identify with any of the characters at all. I was fucking poor, not making money to buy things I didn't need. Once you use an ordinal uncreative people will use the next one. Gen Y, gen Z so they wrapped around and called it alpha because the people who do these things love wordplay so much. Lots of them on Substack and I like to bullly them when they reveal their shallow understanding of the world and do it using words they're jealous they can't use.
