That’s a first Gen CRV. Those lights are purely decorative and can safely be ignored for 80,000+ miles.

You got the little table as the spare tire cover right?

[–] morgenman@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

I love my 2001! We're at 348k and still kicking. Engine misfires are starting to get worse so we'll see how many more miles she has

Still more reliable than a Cybertruck.

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

by far

a cybertruck will never last 35 years of abuse like these old japanese cars used to.

[–] herrvogel@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Tbh there aren't many modern cars that look like they will last 35 years, and unfortunately that includes the Japanese.

the new-er ones are coasting on their solid engineering solutions from the older ones (offset by the typical cost cutting) and brand recognition.

the modern ones are probably close to as bad as anything else today, but time is still yet to punish those so we can get the real feel for it.

that said some of the chinese evs coming here look solid. time will tell.

Look at this guy showing off his working dash lights.

wife’s 2017 JK just had its tranny start whining today I was driving. After driving an hour. Won’t go back into a gear. Cools down. Gets back into gear. I tow it anyway. Low fluid? Demons? Daemons?

Either way what a cluster. Wife is stuck in ATL, trying to get home. I’m stuck on side of road.

Literally things “throwing money” could solve.

I got promoted this week. Estimated +500-600 a paycheck every fortnight.

It kicks in end of April’s check.

FML.

Sorry. not a shitpost. Just a sad 46 yo failure of a man with a pissed off alcoholicly angry wife.

[–] ReasonablePea@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 days ago

Hey man I hope things get better, I feel your pain. On the bright side congrats on the promotion!

You can try biking sometimes. Clears your head, low maintenance, gives fresh thoughts. Mix it with microdosing lsd.

[–] hodgepodgin@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

very much depends on OP’s circumstances. It’s likely very impossible for them to do so, or dangerous. America sucks.

[–] flandish@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

wish i could. am a firefighter and kind of enjoy that vs being out of service. but also even weed gummies will make me have a panic attack. ever since say …25 i havent been able to get high. so odd.

Had a 90s Suburban with almost 300k miles for a while as a hand-me-down from my parents, we owned it for about 10 years between us. The check engine light was always on, no matter what we did. Every sensor changed, code reset, everything we could think of. The truck ran like it was off the factory floor, no issues at all. Eventually the bulb burned out since it was always on.

I recently talked to the guy I sold it to 10 years ago, he still drives it! He loved it when he first drove it and has put a lot of miles on it only needing usual maintenance like brakes and a fuel pump. That old 5.7L Vortec sure is bulletproof but I'm sure he's not happy about it's 42 gal gas tank right about now.

This car......just like people in general society right now. Barely holding it together, and the people in charge realize you're on the verge of a breakdown. They just don't care to fix the problems.

[–] skulblaka@sh.itjust.works 13 points 2 days ago

People who own this car probably do care to fix the problems, they just don't have the money that's required to do so.

Oligarchs have the money, they just don't have the desire.

[–] shortable@feddit.online 4 points 2 days ago

My actual check engine lost is on, but so is my spiritual check engine light

[–] doug@lemmy.today 13 points 2 days ago

Some matte tape will fix all of those problems…

…placed over their dashboard indicators, of course.

[–] Enzy@feddit.nu 8 points 2 days ago

still runs and starts any weather

[–] notacat@infosec.pub 2 points 2 days ago

Turns out my check engine light has flashy state as well and then also a separate maintenance required light? I am forever grateful for the random yt video detailing exactly how to fix my 20yo car. Even down to how detach every proprietary electrical connection. My mechanic said my car was dead but that video saved it.
