Arresting people while they’re renewing their work permits should be illegal. Plain cruelty

MODERATORS
It sounds like this is somebody who doesn't have PR. So they're not under any obligation to renew his work permit as far as I know.
Still, detaining him is completely insane. That should not be what happens to someone whose work permit is denied.
