Howdy all. I want to deGoogle, but the one thing that keeps me here is Google Maps. Any good alternatives? I don't want to use Apple or Microsoft products, either, that's going from one head of Cerberus to another.

I use CoMaps. It uses open street maps. Can run completely offline. Zero tracking.

2and CoMaps. Someone said there was an internal issue with Open Street Maps iirc.

It's sometimes difficult to search for a specific location, but IMO it's not that bad.

Comaps + GMaps WV to get coords to specific spots if they arent on comaps.

Yes gmaps wv is technically google but its only a webview app that doesnt get any of my precious data and spits out universal coordinates very easily to search up in other map apps.

You could get a GPS device like a Garmin or TomTom

Since we're talking about alternatives to Google Maps and their shortcomings, I think it's good to mention how you can help improve Open Street Map. You need the app StreetComplete - it's like a scavenger hunt while you're walking around, but you help fill in data on OSM in quick single-question format.

I find it helps pedestrians, cyclists, and the disabled the most, since Google also does a very poor job of presenting information relevant to those audiences. By making OSM better, we can create more users, which creates more contributors.

Just helping them for free so they can use their earnings to hurt us?

OSM is a free, nonprofit map database

Could you be more specific about what features you're looking to get elsewhere?

Most of the time I use osmand and now comaps (with sherpaTTS)

However I still have waze and magic earth installed for when I must reach somewhere on time.

There is Valhalla routing for osmand, which suppose to have traffic data but last time I checked it wasn't ready yet.

Consider "HERE WeGo"

https://wego.here.com/

It does not fit the FOSS philosophy, but is by an European company based in the Netherlands, more privacy-respecting and works for me just as good as Google Maps did.

Here wego.

It's not perfect, but he do the job

Still fits the bill, OP just wants alternatives to google
