Still at the hospital.

Stuff is back to normal but they did a thyroid blood test and they think it's over-active which might have led to the heart stuff.

Feel bad, the strays will be waiting and I ain't getting home anytime soon

[–] tone212_@aussie.zone 4 points 23 minutes ago

Glad you’re back to normal, hope you’re out of the hospital soon.

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 4 points 26 minutes ago

I made fajitas for tomorrow nights dinner and now my house smells of fajitas but I can't eat them yet πŸ™

Water company taking the piss yet again. No, we will not be paying the bill for the entire set of units. Just like last quarter. Get your arse into gear for a ream from the ombudsperson.

I visited the new Rosanna library today. The balustrade pictured here is 10mm thick steel. Obviously it wouldn’t be a single piece but it looks like one. It’s quite astonishing. I’m puzzled by the fact that it’s painted though. If you use a material like that in a way that’s a bit unusual and clearly meant to be a design feature, don’t hide it with paint 🀷

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 2 points 24 minutes ago

We'll need to go check it out soon. The old library was underwhelming to say the least

I dream of having a house with a statement curved staircase like this, that I descend to my guests watching my grand entrance below.

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 4 points 3 hours ago

Also impressed by the handrail work!

Ooh this is cool!!

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 4 hours ago

That's a spoonbill at the beach, they swish their bills in the water to feed. I don't see many of them as seagulls hate them and will drive them away.

I also saw fairy wrens, some big ducks, pelicans, seagulls, terns, stilts, moor hens, red cap plovers, topknot doves, sparrows, willy wag tails,

and lots and lots of star fish .

It really was good to see all the wild life even if it was so cold and windy today

mumble ranting about transport companies Bad juju today.

Organising win for the day: the box my fit watch came in is the perfect fit to go in my bathroom organiser and tidy up my unruly packets of dental floss picks.

I've tidied up the bathroom cabinet a bit, and a section of the pantry that was a chaotic mix of vitamin pills, pet supplies and a few random things that were far better off elsewhere.

I'm continuing to work on the area of the study that became a dumping ground for all the miscellaneous stuff I wasn't sure where to put when I moved. The plan is to clear out all the excess clutter and tidy everything up and create space for the new fitness stuff.

Got antibiotics and just as well because my finger is swelling up.

spoilerSaw some pet things I’d been looking for in pink. I only find those items now. And out of habit I fully expected to see her when I got home πŸ’”

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 4 hours ago

hugs

I used to expect to hear Allie's meow and would sometimes see her out the corner of my eye. But it was just habit and wishing.

Looks like it's a day of reading reddit again.

We all have those days. Hope you're doing okay

Just had a visit from the local JWs. Definitely one of the less annoying types of proselytiser.

[–] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 5 points 6 hours ago

I had them not long ago. They started debating me on something but as soon as I said "look, you're trespassing" they up and left. They younger lass tried to continue but the older guy was all nah we really gotta go.

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 2 points 5 hours ago

When I was in Perth last October, my partner and I were waiting in the car, in the carpark, and we saw and were approached by American Mormons on a mission lol. They tried to convert us, we politely declined and they left. They were two young women, maybe barely 18-21?, and there was an older man close by keeping an eye on them, I assume like a chaperone.

It was very strange. I didn't think they came to Australia, I thought their missions usually involved going to the global south, not the actual south lol

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 8 hours ago

Nice people, terrible organisation.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 8 hours ago

I'm going to be wearing a coat today 😐

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 points 7 hours ago

The other day my building's fire alarm went off, and it wasn't a test lol I spent 5 minutes chasing Mickey with a towel to get him in the carrier and then hustled downstairs to hang with all the other resident cats in their carriers.

Took about half an hour, but it turns out the cafe they're putting in downstairs on the street, they're doing renos, tripped it accidentally. No actual fire.

We got back upstairs and Mickey promptly nipped my ankles and calves, until I plied him up with a tube treat mixed with some dry treats.

This is him afterwards

I have 3 cats and a hyperactive jack russell... I'd be fucked getting them all out in a hurry.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 9 hours ago

My dog would push me out the way to get out first.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 5 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I don't think Mr Woof would go well in an appartment, but in a house he's great - he self-evacuates to the back yard every time there is a noise he doesn't like. Which includes smoke alarms, blenders, crockery clinking... He evacuates multiple times a day when I'm home!

Miss Meow would be a problem if she gets scared and goes into hide mode. She's black and can melt into shadows, there is a good chance I wouldn't be able to find her in an emergency.

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 3 points 9 hours ago

The fluffy one would be easy, he'd be under the bed. The dilute torti could be anywhere, and she blends in so is really difficult to spot. The black one would be up high, hopefully I could reach her and the dog.... well she'd be barking at my feet.

[–] LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 4 points 9 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 5 points 9 hours ago

Mostly.... the torti is a bitch though.....

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 5 points 10 hours ago (5 children)

I went to a burger place next to a building doing am evacuation one time. All these people came oit together with their pets and then there was this one guy with his golf clubs

I'd have Gibson in one hand and my favourite guitar in the other lol

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 5 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

That guy had his priorities straight! His place burned down, can't a man golf? πŸ˜‚

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 3 points 6 hours ago

I hope it was a time of reflection for him looking at all the couple with their pets, and then him looking at his clubs

Woo! Free reusable coffee cup at the conference. I didn't even know it was part of the deal. I've seen these ones around too, they're the expensive ones

My new fitness watch ~~is arriving today~~ arrived as I was writing this message, so I'll be able to start actually tracking my steps. My initial goal for steps should be quite achievable: wear the watch for a week and figure out what I'm actually doing now.

Some weights are expected to arrive today or tomorrow, most likely they will arrive tomorrow with a whole bunch of stuff that will be piled up at my door for me to struggle to move inside after getting home late from Melbourne. Any time you only have one day you're not home that's when the parcels are most likely to be delivered!

As well as the treadmill I'm also waiting on some new scales, as mine died last week after I finally got around to putting new batteries in. It managed one last weight measure, then got stuck trying to connect to wifi and passed away peacefully overnight. Plus some little miscellaneous things like a little whiteboard to write down my plans and some new shoes.
