What does this meme even mean?

[–] lime@feddit.nu 20 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

i mean if you're browsing all, you'll see the crossposts. it's sorta built into the nature of the system.

the client could probably collapse them into one though.

Piefed consolidates crossposts. Join us on the dark side.

eh, i don't really like the "enabled-by-default, hardcoded name filters and ocr to block greentexts" thing.

Agreed, instaban’s are a tad heavy handed. As not everyone understands how the system works.

Easy way to catch a block is doing this and not being funny. This isnt even a meme ffs

Anyone who immediately posts/cross posts something that much should be banned.

What’s the consensus on this? I sometimes post science news. When I do, I usually post to .world (cuz traffic) and then the relevant mander.xyz and/or beehaw comms. So there might be a post and 2 immediate reposts. But I can’t think of a better way to get enough eyeballs to maybe have a conversation and also keep the science instances fed.

The magic number I've heard before is 3 total identical posts. If there was a way to programatically control for that it would be ideal.

I usually favor mander.xyz communities for science topics

Do any Android apps prevent this?

[–] Luminous5481@anarchist.nexus 2 points 6 hours ago

Sure, some of them have options to hide crossposts. Check your settings.

Every time I see this happen, I just block the crossposting user account. It’s not perfect, but there aren’t that many of them and I find myself doing it less and less over time.
