The job stress is causing the heart issues. First day in office for 7 days and my heart was going a bit wild all day.

Plus was waiting to see it they'd fire me.

Hopefully these interviews this week go well.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

miss seagoon was like this when younger, she was on beta blockers 😔

hugs and good luck with the interviews

Thank you ❤️

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I hope the heart eases man. No fun at that high bpm.

Also lol at the brollie. I'm sure the kitties appreciate it :)

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I appreciate it man ❤️

Today was pretty bad so I'm really hoping I make it through these interviews this week.

It's sort of at the point of: if I stay, I'm putting myself at risk from stress.

But we'll see what happens :)

Oh the cats were happy lol

I must apologise - I watered the garden this evening. So I take full responsibility for the current rain.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago

no, it's good, we need the rain 😊 thank you

Y'know, if America gets to have military bases in Australia, and gets to arbitrarily decide to go to war in a way that fucks us over, and gets to influence the outcome of our elections in ways that benefit them, I really reckon we should get a say in their elections, too.

It's only fair.

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago

We shall bestow upon them the blessing of compulsory voting and entirely rework how their elections are performed. Also we exile the GOP to Epstein island, with no resources and an abundance of hungry north Australian crocs.

But really it mostly stems from the Union not properly punishing the Conferdates lol

The magpies are eating the leftover cat food… they’re going to be the size of emus

That ancient Aussie curse - May your chooks turn into emus and kick your dunny door down!

I really don’t feel like doing art or knitting/crochet right now. I don’t want to do more cleaning or mending. I don’t want to learn music. Cooking involves cleaning and eating it or food waste. Trying to cut through hard plastic can wait.

CW learning medical skills

Currently learning to do a basic interrupted suture with a mattress needle on the cut skin of a banana (using tweezers in lieu of forceps and normal thread - don’t have anything like a needle holder. Maybe my mini pliers or clamps might work)…

Mad respect to doctors because this is not easy. The peel is so soft but inflexible that it’s hard to close the cut without tearing through the skin. Don’t get injured around me folks, because this is not mastered and I don’t plan to use this. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WSYenn0tNhs

Might learn bandaging or mix it up and try more soldering practice next time.

I’ve been watching a lot of short form content and am trying to reverse the brainrot.

so, uh, I guess they're officially coming home with us now. (well, thursday)

We're renaming them to Samuel (Sammy) Frederick and Maxwell (Max) George because we are not fans of JKR, but it seems disrespectful to summarily dismiss those who saved their lives. Also we found out that they were literally due to be euthanised the same day as Misha before KRS found an emergency foster. His Lordship also never looks at pet rescue because it breaks his heart but for some reason he did the day they were listed - with Max looking uncannily like Misha (including, as we found out on visiting, a damaged tail)

The world works in weird ways.

Cerys knows something's up as we're doing up the dining room as a landing zone, but she's incredibly food motivated (as is Sam) so I don't forsee any massive problems considering they'd both sell their grandmothers for a freeze dried crocodile bite.

It takes twice as long to get to Berwick from Belgrave by public transport, as it does to get to the CBD from Belgrave 🤯

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago

I believe it, PT times are crazy

I forget which day it is this month, but it's 11 years sober in March 2026.

I kinda wish I was in a more celebratory mood but I honestly dgaf at the moment.

Yay I guess.

I am back from my local cinema. It is a very nice and old fashioned theatre. I watched PHM again, to catch the things I missed the first time.

It is a very beautiful movie, the images unforgettable.

[–] useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It’s lovely. I’m guessing you had the whole place to yourself

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

even tho it was a morning session the cinema was a quarter full!

there were also about a dozen young teens in there taking advantage of the day off due to the teachers strike 😊, How is it young ones love to sit near front? They stayed for the whole movie and were well behaved, I'm assuming they enjoyed it. 😊😊😊

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 2 points 1 day ago

That's where I saw it!! I love that theatre. I have a membership

Usually I buy the 100 packs of generic black tea bags but I’m having some Earl Grey tea as a treat (from one of the little 10 packs).

I got a lift to Kmart for new earbuds and checked out the tubs… the different sizes don’t nest properly, the smaller one was too tall to allow the outer lid to go on. Even without insulating layers of straw adding to the height.

Maybe I’ll see what the big green shed offers, or if I can make something work with the miscellaneous tubs I have. Though they’re not black to hold in precious heat and aren’t uv resistant. Cutting them will be interesting because I have a mini hacksaw and Stanley knife but no blowtorch or drill. I just spotted a pair of fuzzy buns wandering past so he does not go home when it rains.

Otherwise I don’t know what else to do. I bought some books from the op shop but have been unable to concentrate on reading even though I used to be a big reader. Maybe I’ll go learn a random skill off youtube. idk.

spoilerThings got really bad recently, I’m being referred to grief counselling and am trying to stay busy but am dying inside. Everything reminds me of my deeply loved Melbcat and I’m swinging between regrets that I didn’t try harder to save her and regrets at making her hold on that long because I didn’t know the worst of it. And regrets that I didn’t do even more to make her happy and enriched in the time we had. I just want to hug her again.

You really did the best you or anyone could Melba. Please don't second guess that.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I agree with Bottom_racer

and everyone gets a pass because of covid, I think the whole world has had ptsd

and we've all had to do our best thru trying circumstances

you are the best

so many hugs

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago

Thanks Seagoon

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago

Thanks man :(

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Even if you had done everything perfectly you would still have some manufactured regrets. Our minds cling to "if i'd just" because we're not allowed to howl at the void any more

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You’re right. I did what was best for her and will regret anyway

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You did your best and both of you still got your life together taken away. And that's shit. It's incredibly shit.

You're allowed to be upset about that. You're allowed to be angry. But don't you ever feel guilty or regret putting up one hell of a fight.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago

It fucking sucks 🫩

Awaiting surprise pakige sent from a OS family member. It’s not a special occasion (birthday/ Xmas), so I’ve got no idea what it is.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago

sounds wonderful 🤗

Black cat is napping in the back yard. Feeling so sad that Melbcat could no longer enjoy like that (safety reasons).

Wondering if I should make a winter shelter for him but what happens if he comes to rely on me/my place and then I move? Also my physical and mental health are really unstable now. 😔

If he wasn’t owned and I wasn’t going through hell I might consider fostering or adoption (if I became more ready) but that’s not really a possibility. It’s a real pickle.

Drove past Moorabbin Airport just as 6 hot air Balloons were coming into land. There was one in the shape of a turtle!

My Temu return has been dropped off at the post office. They have a very weird return algorithm for their bots to follow. I also had a watch band I was going to return and had arranged to go to a parcelpoint location which is closer, but because I had to go to the post office anyway I cancelled the return so I could re-do it with an Aus Post label instead. But this time it just decided I didn't need to return it and just refunded the money. I guess the op shops getting a watch band.

I'm gonna help YL clean her room. Which means I will bend while she watches. I try to act nonchalant but when I see t-shirts hung up and dresses and nice tops go in the drawer that I have washed, there's a little bit inside me that screams. I keep it in. It's best that way.

It's her room. She can do as she likes. It's her room she can do as she likes. It's her room....
