How do you not crack the fuck up saying that? Or hearing it in the audience?

You can get invited to Pentagon briefings only if you wholeheartedly agree.

they invested in missiles

AND THAT WAS PROVEN TO BE THE SMARTEST POSSIBLE INVESTMENT

[–] Enjoyer_of_Games@hexbear.net 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

The smartest possible investment was nukes.

Despite handily losing the war, the US spends 33x more per capita than Iran on their military (122x overall!). Also, Iran has universal healthcare and free universities! Neat!

[–] JoeyWah@hexbear.net 22 points 4 days ago

The US also spends more of its GDP per capita on the military than Iran.

The exceptionally high level of education and critical thinking skills of the various Iranian born colleagues I've had over the years begs to differ.

They're just trying to see what headlines they can get news organizations to print.

"High military budget signals desire for conflict, US officials claim"

Pete Hegseth was a host on Fox News from 2017 to 2024, before Trump appointed him as Secretary of War.

God can we stop stroking them off and calling it the department of war? It’s the department of defense, the 50s doublespeak term still legally applies

[–] dead@hexbear.net 17 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Department of War is more accurate to what the department does, but may not be legally correct. Department of Defense is legally correct, but inaccurate to what the department does.

I don't think it's a benefit to him to be called 'Secretary of War'. Honestly it feels like resistance lib shit to think that we're doing something by calling him 'Secretary of Defense'.

I don't think it matters what we call him. Call him whatever you want, call him 'Secretary of Piss' if you choose.

Honestly it feels like resistance lib shi

BOOM: Democrats introduced a bill that would BAR Hegseth from using "Secretary of War" in any official letterhead.

This is how these profound thinkers mock the whole world.

It just occurred to me that this smells like one of the false dichotomies people are forced to understand the world through in order to ignore the heightening contradictions.

Iran demonstrates (like so many other places) that you don't min/max and get one or the other (civic vs military development.) Investment in one is complementary to investment in the other and visa versa.

Its how you continue to produce capable strategists and engineers and shit instead of getting lost in your own propaganda hall of mirrors within 2 generations.
