Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

We know with great precision what they are now.

At least its twin the alphabet song is actually quite useful to have memorized.

No no, keep that one. They wrote it about us bombing the living hell out of their stuff. It would be better if it mentioned the arson.

Hey Jude.

I fucking hate it.

[–] Jarix@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I always sing Hey Dude by Beatallica instead. Love that version lol

ok. story time. Had this friend of friend in highschool. Super stoner idiot type which was kinda funny because he hung out with our nerd group regularly (burnout/nerd crossover was surprisingly not uncommon). We are at a pizza hut with a jute box. Guy goes and puts some money in and is like. Oh man I saw this sound that sounds so cool. Hey Dude. He was very disapointed.

For me, pretty much all of Bob Dylan's production. I know he's supposed to be a Nobel-Prize-winning genius singer and songwriter, and everybody is in total awe of his talent, but... honestly, I've seen people sing better and play the guitar better in the metro.

I don't dislike Bob Dylan, and his lyrics were a powerful product of his time. But he's always seems very meh to me as a musician. I just don't get the hype.

[–] tastemyglaive@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago

You should dislike Bob Dylan he is super annoying

He was important for the time when songs were political statements, not just money grabs like today. Don't wait for a Taylor Swift "Fuck ICE" song anytime soon.

But I hate how Boomer music is rammed down our throats and are told we have to love it. Fuck the Beatles.

Don’t wait for a Taylor Swift β€œFuck ICE” song anytime soon

Taylor Swift is a billionaire. She's in the club. She's not gonna shit the bed πŸ™‚

I know everyone loves to hate on YT, but give this a shot…. https://youtu.be/61I4hlig78w

Bob Dylans entire thing is that he can't sing and he knows it.

Hes talked many times about how ridiculous it felt for him to be grouped with some of the greatest singers of all time when he was at award shows or other music stuff.

Just look at his expression in the We Are The World music video:

Confusion

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

Folk music is not about singing or the tune, it's just poetry to music.

[–] owenfromcanada@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

Bob Dylan was loved for his song writing. People didn't love his voice or his playing, but they loved hearing him in spite of his voice because his songs meant so much.

The most popular versions of his songs were often recorded by other folk groups.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

Ah. The Steve Miller effect.

[–] howmuchlonger@lemmy.org 2 points 2 days ago

For him I think it was right time right place. How many bands/musicians could be transplanted to another time and still have success with the same music? Very few.

[–] Bullerfar@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Barbie girl from Aqua & Wannabe from Spicegirls. Meme songs before it was a thing.

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 days ago

i feel like lovefool from the cardigans should have been on that list

[–] tastemyglaive@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago

Future – Jordan Diddy wait almost forgot I can win by default here,

Smells like teen spirit is one of those songs that you simply don't listen to in your own time even if you're a big Nirvana fan. If you listen to Nevermind, you start on track 2.

[–] tastemyglaive@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Actually in its time probably KKKanye WeSSt (feat. Jay-Z, RicKKK Roϟϟ, NicKKKi Minaj & Bon Iver) – MonSSter

There are just unsalvageable bars in here. People were unironically listening to this with their future wives

[–] mbp 1 points 15 hours ago

Guilty. The song did age horrendously, though

[–] jhunnius@feddit.org 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The devo cover is something else though.

[–] platypode@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Bohemian Rhapsody. All fluff, no substance.

Platypus: Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?

Queen fans: Bismillah! No, we will not let you go

Yeah, it's very contrived. I've lost friends for sharing this opinion as well.

Anything by Elvis Costello. Can't stand that wanker's music. Like 2 out of 5 for any of his songs would be horribly overrated to me.

Wait why the ss reference with Crosby & co?

I always interpreted Ohio as an anti fascist protest song.

Also RammSStein is just awful and embarrassing goonslop pick any song

[–] backalleycoyote@lemmy.today 1 points 16 hours ago

I mean, when I saw them the singer had a strap-on flamethrower and later spanked the keyboardist’s bare ass with a jizzing dildo. I don’t think they’re unaware they have a gooner theme.
