Unfortunately, manufacturers seem to be dropping the radio din standard in favor of fully-integrated infotainment over the last several years

Google is an incredibly shitty company.

Google running the software on the head units would still be a better situation than what the manufacturers currently do. My 2019 default head unit is already end of life / completely lost software support.

so car manufacturers can use it, then slowly put all their important infrastructure behind a walled garden just like android on mobile. we've seen this playbook before lol
