Trump is not a monarch, his cowardice doesn't matter. It would be very strange if the wars are decided by him and everybody goes along and doesn't impeach him. Trump is a figure head and others made the decisions to go to war. They don't face scrutiny because everybody looks at Trump.
China threatens the wealth of the American billionaires. Like DRAM, where China is starting to fill the gaps much faster than the west could increase production, China will take over every market. What but war can the West do to stay relevant?

well no one wants him to be in first line of the charge as medieval king would be, but he doesn't want to look bad on tv - and i think if he had really attacked china, it would be so bad that even he would understand that people are laughing at him.

The US has prepared for years to take down China. All the politics and regime changes, e.g. the recent Taiwan Cambodia conflict, are about containing China.
The US won't step down voluntarily which means that there will be war.
us weren't able to get iran, iraq, or afghanistan, all they can do is fuck things up and leave. i think that military attack on china would end up similarly pathetically as putin attacking ukraine. they might still have slight advantage if they were bordering countries, but attacking someone when your logistical support is on the other side of the world is no small deal.

Especially if they can outproduce you locally.
That leaves two options because regime change is very unlikely now. Either they play deranged superpower for a very clever negotiation strategy or they plan on just bombing China into the stone age with nuclear weapons. I rule out Trump being just stupid because the US elite has a strong interest in a strong US and they would impeach Trump if he would go against their strategy.
