This is not a tasteful carpet in any approximation of colour blindness

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 week ago

Honestly I prefer the original. At least then I can tell it's the carpet easily. But the colorblindness ones look a lot like shit

Wait really? I studied and practiced initiating his drawing style so much. When I draw comics I draw my mouths like him. I've kind of been trying to figure out how not to fan...enby... thing at him without yelling I AM THE QUEEN OF FRANCE for the last 25 years and I have not got an answer yet so this is gonna be awkward as fuck!

Edit awww reddit

A quick read of the reddit questions that have already been asked before he shows up to start answering, it points to you not being alone.

I can't figure out what the intented meaning is behind the animaniacs comic reply. 🤔

i think it’s meant to reference the infamous tumblr color theory post, which has become a common joke on tumblr

See below for transcript

So our local children's hospital recently redecorated, but I'm not too sure they really thought things out

Literally any other colour would've been a better choice guys.

[user mintymaiden]

[image of a diagram showing the positive and negative meanings of the color red. Positive meanings: willpower, warmth, energy, power, enthusiasm, leadership, love, strength, determination, passion. Negative meanings: danger, alert, war, lust, anger, stress, violence.]

I'd like to point out that the colour red has more positive than negative meanings.

[user ichigo-hiyoko]

im sorry but this reply absolutely killed me

red can mean whatever the heck you want it to meanm that is never going to change that this straight up looks like they DRAGGED A BLOODY BODY ACROSS THE FUCKING FLOOR 😂

[user youthful-pills]

Hi fun fact, colors do have meaning and there is a legit thing called color theory. Red does has more positive connotations than negative like the @mintymaiden said. Red is associated with more love, lust, passion than blood and death just like the chart shows you but if you want, here's a link for you to check it out yourself. Also, check out "The Designer's Dictionary of Color" by Sean Adams. Have fun learning something

[user diasporanpapi]

I think y'all are missing the point here.

[user forlovefromfear]

You can theorize to Nebraska and back but that doesn't change my immediate reaction which is that someone is literally dragging a corpse around

[user jhenne-bean]

I like that the presumption here is that "No One On Tumblr Has Heard of Color Theory, Let Me Explain in Depth" rather than simply acknowledging that the VISUAL EFFECTS of this particular color choice, applied in the manner it was, can still amount to "this is a hospital and that looks like blood"

like, color theory doesn't exist in a vacuum. If your design of choice for Blood Red Paint is asymmetric splatters and splotches against the wall, or in this case, a snail trail on the hallway's floor, an infographic won't override the viewers' instinct.

[user eternal-dannation]

this post is the perfect summation of tumblr's reading comprehension and critical thought abilities

[user cazador-red]

[image of Kirby pointing to a sign that says "Color theory don't Mean shit when You is Leaving Blood trails"]

[user wildhaunt]

Homicide detectives: why are you dragging that bleeding corpse around?

Me, an intellectual: well you see it's basic color theory...

color theory don't mean shit when you is leaving blood trails

Reading the whitest people on the internet typing shit in AAVE will never not make me cringe.

[–] BananaIsABerry@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 week ago

Bro out here assuming everyone on the internet is white.

Yikes

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

AAVE is not strictly racial - though not extremely common, there are many non-black americans/canadians that are native speakers of the dialect, and it's extremely common for non-black americans in racially diverse regions to speak it as a 2nd dialect (for example, me).

Also... how do you know they're white?

[–] WolvenSpectre@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

It is the same as is explained. The carpet has a red backing that is used for the red trim of the pattern and it wears down in areas. Her father is seeing it as a brown and the carpet looks like it is disgusting and filthy at best and covered in shit at worst. But the carpet actually has worn in a pattern that the original owners never thought of and looks like a bloody murder scene.

The comic the Animaniacs were going to tell him "OH MY GOD, IT IS A MURDER SCENE, YOU ARE WALKING ALL OVER THE BLOOD!!!" and Jacko was like "Don't, its too easy".

[–] topherclay@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

That makes perfect sense now, thank you for the explanation.

[–] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 15 points 1 week ago

How about a hospital floor instead?

[–] HornedMeatBeast@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I was doing a job at a client's new site and this is what their carpets looked like throughout most of the office.

I stopped dead in my tracks when I walked in.

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 week ago

Chaotic evil.

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 9 points 1 week ago

But the dad have always see blood as that same "brown" tone, so it's more likely that he also meaning "blood" instead of "shit".

[–] kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Red-green colorblind person here. It's only some shades of red and green that get muddied into a kind of brown. To me, that is red as fuck. Not brown.

[–] yogurtwrong@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

just like old Minecraft adventure maps where they used redstone dust as blood
