Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

They didn't do anything wrong tbf. If a man wants to give accommodation to his nieces, let him.

You mean only entitlement can pass by bloodline and not consequences of crime? Yeah, totally makes sense.

[–] kuhli@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

They're literal royalty living off proceeds stolen from the citizens

[–] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 1 points 8 minutes ago

That's true of all royals, not just daughters of pedophiles.

[–] stiephelando@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

It's tax money. It could be used for better causes.

[–] RamenJunkie@midwest.social 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Is it tax money, or money he was paid then he is paying out?

I mean its a technical difference and I am not really defending anything, I just don't know how it works really.

The King owns land called the crown estate. He surrenders the profit to the treasury who then pays him back a small fraction of, which he also pays tax on.

The King does not get funded by tax money, just a small portion of what his family's land makes.

The King owns land called the crown estate.

Well he shouldn't.

They didn't rape any teenagers. This is just how royalty worka, obviously their uncle the king will still look out for them.

One of you say they're spongers because they're married; the royal family has multiple properties and plots of land, so it's basically like providing your nieces with one of your spare homes for when they're visiting the country (one of them is married to an italian man i think?).

It's Logical.

[–] huf@hexbear.net 14 points 8 hours ago

the entire royal family is spongers

[–] Korhaka@sopuli.xyz 14 points 9 hours ago

Yeah, so are most of the royal family

[–] FishFace@piefed.social 12 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Because they're... still... royals? What am I missing

[–] IanM42@piefed.world 8 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

Probably because most people thought they’d suffered the same fate as him, and were reduced to being mere mortals.

But yes they are still royals. And another reason to consign the royal family to history.

I'm with you there. Time to get rid of the largest benefit scroungers around.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

As one of the largest land-owners, I'm surprised they're 'benefit scroungers'. Did someone tell you they're dole kings?

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

They are welfare queens, just like Walmart and McDonald's are some of the biggest welfare queens on this side of the pond. They didn't buy that land. They didn't farm it. They just "own" it mostly for no real reason.

[–] makingrain@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

Did someone tell you that they worked hard to be land owners? Did you believe them?

[–] FishFace@piefed.social -2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Meh. I'm fine with having a royal family - sure there's a bunch of spongers but the fundamental principle of having a bunch of pomp and pageantry for the sake of tradition and jolly flag waving (as opposed to "get rid of the immigrants" flag waving) is fun and worth the price of entry. The price of entry pays rent for a bunch of people who did nothing to deserve it, because that's kind of how it works.

[–] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 1 points 6 minutes ago

How many cousins deep do you want to go?

[–] tenebrisnox@feddit.uk 12 points 10 hours ago

Nothing to see here... move along, please, move along... LOOK AT THOSE WORKSHY DISABLED ON PIP BENEFITS OVER THERE!

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 7 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

There is a formula to make out the level of rents staff have to pay to either the Crown Estate or the royal Household because they have to live on the estate.

It works out as equivalent to 16.7% of their gross pensionable salary.

What the fuck??? That’s for staff, not working royals, so the guy who used to iron Andrew’s shoelaces had to pay 1/6 of his pre-tax salaries in rent to live somewhere he didn’t choose.

[–] ToastedRavioli@midwest.social 4 points 8 hours ago

Tbf they did choose. They dont have to work there and are free to leave. A lot of people pay 1/3rd of their income in rent, so 1/6th is honestly a pretty good deal IMO

[–] IanM42@piefed.world 6 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

Make them pay their rent or get out. Besides I thought they were married?

Spongers, the lot of them.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 1 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

The family pulls in a LOT of rent-money. I bet they don't need to pay much rent themselves.

[–] ladel@feddit.uk 3 points 11 hours ago

I think the King is paying for them with his personal money, but it is weird.

Who's the vampire in the middle of the picture? She freaks me out

[–] CompactFlax@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 6 hours ago

Andrew’s wife.

She loved how Epstein would fly her around in first class.

[–] Marasenna@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 9 hours ago

Sarah Ferguson.

She's their mother.
